3 people murdered in Elad towards end of Independence Day
At least three people were killed and four others injured in a terrorist attack in the Israeli city of Elad near Petah Tikva towards the end of Independence Day.It's been revealed the 2 jihadists who were responsible for this bloodbath entered from Gaza illegally:
All three victims were men in their 40s. The victims were named as Yonatan Habakkuk, a father of five, Boaz Gol, a father of five, and Oren Ben Yiftach, a father of six from Lod.
Two of the victims aged 60 and 35 were seriously wounded and transported to Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer and Rabin Medical Center-Beilinson Campus sedated and intubated. Another 40-year-old male was moderately wounded and transported to Beilinson, and a 23-year-old male who fought with the terrorists was conveyed in mild condition to the hospital.
MDA paramedic Alon Rizkan, who arrived at the scene and treated the victims called it "a very difficult call.”
"Unfortunately, this incident will be deeply etched in my heart," said MDA volunteer Moti Tsinvert. "In all my years as an emergency medicine paramedic, I have not encountered such a severe scene of multiple casualties with significant penetrating injuries, residents who went out just to breathe fresh air in the park, and their lives were ended so harshly."
"This is a massacre and bloodbath that is reminiscent of dark days in the history of Israel. I hope that I and the rest of the emergency services that dealt with the horrific event will be able to return to routine after the difficult images we saw," added Tsinvert.
The two Palestinian suspects thought to be behind the Elad terrorist attack, Jenin residents Assad al-Rafai (19) and Tzabahi Abu Shakir (20), worked in Elad and knew the area, despite having illegally entered into Israeli territory after having breached the Seam Line, Army Radio confirmed Friday morning. But what's additionally horrific is the lack of concern for security in such areas:
The two were identified by police and their pictures have been shared by security forces asking for the public to help locate them, indicating they are likely still in Israeli territory. Abu Shakir's father, Imad Abu Shakir, was arrested by Israeli law enforcement, KAN reported, citing Palestinian media.
The two are thought to have attacked several people in Elad Thursday with knives and axes — And in some eyewitness accounts hammers — resulting in three deaths and four injuries.
There are some 150,000 Palestinians who enter Israel legally from the West Bank and according to some estimates, another 30,000 cross through holes in the West Bank fence each day, mostly men who have not received permits but want to work in Israel. So apparently, one of the worst reasons such a tragedy could occur was because local municipal representatives, along with authorities themselves, refused to take any proper action to guard against such attacks. As the council member says, this is a leading example of what happens when you don't have realists in charge. Now, it's led to a graphic murder scene of the worst form.
Greater attention has been brought to this in recent months, ever since the ongoing wave of terrorist attacks began in March.
One of these attacks occurred in Bnei Brak, where the terrorist was an illegal Palestinian that had worked there and knew the area.
Speaking to Army Radio, Elad City Council member Yaniv Bedlov said that he had attempted to take precautions in the city ever since the Bnei Brak attack.
"The writing was on the wall," Bedlov said. "A month ago, immediately after the massacre in Bnei Brak, I sent a letter to the mayor and the police requesting we strengthen security in the city."
However, he claims his pleas fell on deaf ears. "There are only two entrances to the city, but the checkpoints were unmanned and the fence fell."
