Yair Cherki shouldn't buy into leftist propaganda, but should recognize the Haredi interpretation of Judaism he went by may have been what made him homosexual
Yair Cherki, the religion reporter for Israel’s Channel 12, gained a name for his sidecurls, his cheery demeanor and his rapid-fire delivery as he has guided his viewers into the lives and homes of Israel’s Ultra-Orthodox (or Haredi) community.Ahem. Same sex attraction is a contradiction. But, he clearly is somebody who can't bring himself to say he'd like to learn how to relate more easily to women, because that's not what leftists/LGBT activists want to hear. And this is why Cherki's such a disappointment. But, as far as his becoming homosexual goes, here's a strong clue:
On Tuesday, he delivered a different sort of message — a wrenching personal statement posted to Facebook.
“I love guys. I love guys and the Holy Blessed One,” a religious term for God, Cherki wrote. “It’s not a contradiction, and it’s not new.”
Cherki, 30, rake-slim, generally sports a dark blue kippah and dark casual clothing. He recently cut off his payos, the sidecurls kept by Haredi men. Now, what if it turned out Cherki's parents/teachers/spiritual leaders in the Haredi community he came from limited what he could see of the opposite sex, told him not to look at girls, not to shake hands, among other specific limitations? What would that say about his situation?
Cherki made his mark in TV news by taking viewers into the homes of his fellow Haredim and asking them, in gentle, urgent tones, to explain why they believed what they believed.
Anyway, here's what I believe he should be told: don't stop trying to learn how to best relate to women. If Rabbi Akiva could learn how to be a Torah scholar, you can learn how to be sexually drawn to the ladies, to bear children for them, and even ensure women like these could have a safer and happier life. Just think, if men like Cherki would offer women who'd been in horrific relations with Muslim men his own hand in marriage instead, those who had the misfortune of becoming enslaved by the Religion of Peace might've been in a much better situation today. Maybe Cherki's willing to consider all that?
All that aside, the Haredi community he comes from owes an apology for causing him to become homosexual. It's an elephant in the room that it's about high time they're willing to address. Will they agree?
