The disgraced Busfield/Gilbert couple move out of their NYC apartment
A story from several weeks ago that I missed was actress Melissa Gilbert and her disgraced husband, Timothy Busfield, who was accused of sexual abuse, moving out of their NYC apartment:
Melissa Gilbert is moving out of her Big Apple apartment in New York City, which she shared with husband Timothy Busfield.Considering where NYC's been going lately, what with a Muslim mayor elected (what if Gilbert and Busfield voted for him?) and district attorney Alvin Bragg being reelected by a comfortable margin, it's a bit surprising they'd decide to split from the Big Apple. Obviously, there's still people in region who'd want nothing to do with them after what was reported about Busfield, but still, as some no doubt believe, NYC could be a very corrupt place to be, to the point where you wonder why the twosome aren't comfy living there anymore.
The actress took to her Instagram handle on Tuesday and announced that she was leaving behind the Upper West Side apartment she called home for the past eight years. Offering a look inside the moving process, she revealed that she was now relocating full-time to their upstate New York property, which was raided by federal agents earlier this year. [...]
This comes months after Timothy Busfield was arrested in January in New Mexico on child abuse and criminal sexual contact charges. The case stems from allegations that he inappropriately touched 7-year-old twin boys while working on Fox's The Cleaning Lady in October 2022.
More recently, it was reported that Gilbert won't be returning to a Hallmark TV role she worked in:
Melissa Gilbert will not be returning to the hit Hallmark series When Calls the Heart. It's rather confusing and unclear, but to be sure, the whole scandal's embarrassed her, to the point where even the TV channel's staff must realize she too could be an embarrassment based on her vehement apologia for her "husband". What she did is a real career damager, and now for all we know, her own career could be coming to an end sooner than some might've thought.
Gilbert, who guest-starred as Georgie McGill on several episodes of the show during seasons 12 and 13, shared the news in a Thursday Instagram post.
“Many people have asked if I will be returning to When Calls the Heart this coming season. The answer to that is no I will not,” Gilbert wrote. “I am told this is due to ‘budget issues.’ That said, I wish all my sweet friends in Hope Valley a wonderful and successful season 14.” [...]
Hallmark confirmed Gilbert’s departure in a statement to People.
“We can confirm that Melissa’s storyline on When Calls the Heart concluded in season 13. We adore Melissa and are always grateful when we get to work with her.”
Gilbert’s career news comes amid her husband Timothy Busfield’s legal turmoil.
