ICC's Karim Khan tried to issue warrant against Benjamin Netanyahu to distract from sexual assault accusations against Khan
The International Criminal Court’s decision to seek arrest warrants for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other Israeli officials was set after its chief prosecutor, Karim Khan, was under internal investigation for allegations of sexual assault, The Wall Street Journal reported on Saturday.Does she realize any support for such a thing only makes it difficult for some segments of society to feel sorry for her? We can only hope she's coming to her senses now. What the ICC has done has only made things much worse, and it's going to take ages to clean up the mess. For now, we can only hope Khan will be removed from his job.
A Malaysian lawyer who had worked as a close aide to Khan and accompanied him on multiple overseas trips told United Nations investigators that he coerced her into non-consensual sexual encounters in New York, Paris, and The Hague.
She said she initially remained silent due to fears of professional retaliation and concern over her mother’s medical expenses. The allegations were formally reported to senior ICC officials in April 2024.
[...] The aide, who joined Khan’s team in 2023 after six years at the ICC, said she felt trapped in her position, continuing to work in order not to jeopardize the court’s Gaza investigation, which she supported.
