Prof. Paul Eidelberg presents Ariel Sharon's record of corruption in this short article on TheRaphi.Com. I would recommend reading it too, since it shows that he certainly didn't build much of even his own Sycamore ranch legally, nor his own political career. On the ranch land:

"Now it turns out that when it comes to this gigantic ranch as well, the Sharon family is insatiable. A team of surveyors from the Israel Lands Administration (ILA) is reviewing how hundreds of dunams [one dunam=about a quarter acre] were annexed to the ranch without obtaining the necessary permits required by the state authorities. The lease agreement for the ranch expired over three years ago, but ILA officials held up the renewal of the contract because of the surprising expansion of the ranch's area."If this is the case, then Sharon is in possession of illegally owned property, and will have to make amends by handing much of it back.
