Dubya's administration is intervening in Israeli elections
Labor party MK Isaac Herzog says that the Bush government is intervening in Israeli politics:
It's yet another discredit to both the Dubya administration when it comes to foreign policy, and also a discredit to mainstream media reporting.
Labor Party MK Isaac Herzog accused the Bush administration Thursday of intervening in internal Israeli politics and promoting Acting Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and his Kadima party ahead of the March elections. This is something that even Bill Clinton tried to do back in 1996, in a violation of rules that make clear that a country's government should not get involved in someone else's internal matters. It should also be noted that this has something to do with the exaggerated polls being published recently that claim that Kadima would win as many as 44 seats. The MSM would no doubt like to use that as a way of trying to say that Netanyahu and the Likud "cheated", in order to try and delegitimize him.
"Aside from saying 'Go vote Sharon,' they did everything else," Herzog, a former housing minister and current MK, said.
U.S. President George W. Bush called Acting Olmert on Thursday, speaking with him for the first time since Prime Minister Ariel Sharon suffered a massive stroke last week, according to a statement from Olmert's office.
It's yet another discredit to both the Dubya administration when it comes to foreign policy, and also a discredit to mainstream media reporting.
