Ex-president Carter supports Hamas

The Jerusalem Post (via The Jawa Report, The Dread Pundit Bluto and Vince Aut Morire) reports that Jimmy Carter, one of America's least favorite presidents, supports the Hamas terrorist organization, and is predictably naive about the notion that they'll really reform now that they've been elected in such large quantity to the PLO's parliament:
"The Palestinian Government is destitute, and in desperate financial straits. I hope that support for the new government will be forthcoming," Carter said at a Jerusalem press conference.

Carter, who has long supported the participation of Hamas in the Palestinian elections, voiced the hope that the Islamic terror group would act "responsibly" now that it had won the elections.
As Bluto also pointed out here, it's against the law to fund/support terrorist groups, which was exactly what the senoir Bush did back in 1989, when he recognized Yasir Arafat, who then soon afterwards went and supported Saddam's war with Kuwait. And I might also point out that, if CAIR is a Hamas front, then they shouldn't be recognized as a legitimate entity within the US either.

ex-President Carter is a disgrace on so many levels. As a professing Christian, he is continually doing positive PR for known oppressors on the International scene. Moreover, as an American, he is a disgrace, as he is constantly rendering aid and comfort to our enemies. President Bush should yank his passport. -- gunjam
