Islam decrees that women cannot excercise

BelchSpeak provides some info on how, under Islamic Shari'a law, women are not allowed to excercise.
RIYADH, Saudi Arabia - Under their modest flowing robes, two-thirds of Saudi women are too fat. They can try dieting, but you won’t find many in aerobics classes or power-walking along this city’s walking trails. And very few of their daughters attend schools that have physical education classes.

There are no laws against women exercising outside their homes, but in this conservative society many are influenced by scholars and clerics who argue against it.

In Riyadh, hotel gyms and pools are off limits to women. Along the city’s walking trails, where the women walk covered in the mandatory black cloaks, they are sometimes harassed by the (religion police) muttawa.

Rana al-Abdullah said one such official ordered her to go back to her car when she was out walking one day and wouldn’t leave her alone until she did. She now walks in malls.

Many Saudis say they are baffled by the religious arguments.

At a clinic that treats obesity-related diseases, a booklet left by a writer named Muhammad al-Habdan, warned that if girls’ schools began P.E., Saudi girls would have to change into workout gear — and good girls should not disrobe outside their homes. Changing in a locker room might cause them to lose the shyness that is the hallmark of good morals, the booklet warned.

It went on to say that the girls might become attracted to each other after seeing their classmates in tight leotards and tops.
If women under militant Islam are unattractive, it's because the male fascists who govern them force them to be that way. There was a topic on Dhimmi Watch some time ago on how a lot of women in the House of Saud suffer from illnesses such as osteoporosis because they get very little sunlight or excercise. This is another example of how they're oppressed and mistreated to that effect.

The claim that Muslim women can not excercise is nothing short of ridiculous. A quick search on the wives of the Prophet(peace be upon him) and their biographies say it all.

People always act as if they are so worried about Muslim women, when in fact they think them to be complete idiots. I personally know a Muslim woman trianed in martial arts, and another in body building, both traditionally covered, and married with children.

Islam does not prevent Muslim women from exercise. Looking at Saudis as a litmus test for what the Muslims can and can't do escapes reason.

Arabia(not Saudi) is not important because of Saudis. It is important because of Allah and his Messenger. As soon as everyone realizes this, the better off everyone will be, Muslim and non-Muslim alike.

What were they talking about again?

The question is, are women under Islam restricted, subordinate, and unequal to Muslim men, in regard to court testimony, for example? Non-Muslim witnesses in court are also deemed inferior.

Even in places that aren't under enforced Shari'a law, such as Iraq, Muslim women can still be put in lower-ranking positions than Muslim men, and are no more immune to abuse and marital rape than those in the House of Saud. You might also want to contemplate what's said in Sura 4:23-24 in the Koran, and also the one that talks about what Mohammed did to Ayisha.

I have heard that Arabian men like their women curvy. But refusing to allow them any exercise is insane. Maybe they are trying to kill their women off early so they can marry more wives.

However, my husband is from Muslim culture (but converted to Christianity) and nags me that I do not exercise enough. His mother, a Muslim, is obsessed with her body image. Maybe this no exercise rule is only taken by Wahabis who seem to enjoy abusing women.
