Participated in bloggers conference with Robert Spencer
I took part in another bloggers conference sponsored by One Jerusalem, this time with Robert Spencer of Jihad Watch.
One of the most interesting points Spencer made about why Muhammed and Islam succeeded in conquering so much of the mideast back in the 7th century was because the Byzantine empire, which had been present in Syria at the time, rather than to battle his armies when Muhammed was residing in an Arabian border town during his last days, withdrew because - how about that - they felt that there were better things to deal with at around that time! This, you could say, is what enabled the armies of Islam to organize and invade beyond the borders of Arabia. And that was a mistake that today, we need to work hard to avoid repeating.
Spencer's latest book, The Truth About Muhammed: Founder of the World's Most Intolerant Religion, seems to be another important entry in research on Islam and has gotten some good reviews. Books like these are important in order to combat the menace that Islamofascism imposes today.
The other participants include Kim Priestap, In Context, Ocean Guy, Gateway Pundit, The American Thinker, Israpundit, Boker Tov Boulder, Atlas Shrugs, Mere Rhetoric.
