A Dem's become a daddy, and the mother isn't even his own wife!

John Edwards, a former presidential candidate himself, had an affair with one of his campaign employees, Rielle Hunter, and has sired a daughter with her. Only now is this becoming official (Hat tip: Hot Air):
Sources have told WRAL News that they expect former U.S. Sen. John Edwards to admit that he is the father of his former mistress’ 18-month-old daughter.Oh dear. But I think it'll be a bad idea to let Edwards officially parent the child himself in the forseeable future. If a dad is needed, Ms. Hunter would be advised to look elsewhere, yet make sure that Edwards pays the child support checks.
Edwards, a two-time Democratic presidential candidate, confessed last August to having an affair with Rielle Hunter, who served as a videographer on Edwards’ 2008 campaign. He has denied fathering her daughter, saying his relationship with Hunter ended before the child was conceived. [..]
A federal grand jury is investigating whether Edwards’ campaign funds were illegally paid to Hunter to keep quiet about the affair. [...]
Sources said Edwards’ public admission could come before the end of the criminal investigation.
