Thousands of Muslims in London protest against free speech at Google's HQ

Only in Britain could this possibly happen (Hat tip: Atlas Shrugs):
Thousands of Muslims have pledged a series of protests against Google HQ for a "hateful and offensive" anti-Islam video, saying they now live in an "age of mockery".

A protest by 10,000 Muslims outside the offices of Google in London today is just the first in an orchestrated attempt to force the company to remove an anti-Islamic film from website YouTube in Britain.

Thousands had travelled from as far afield as Glasgow to take part in the demonstration, ahead of a planned million-strong march in Hyde Park in coming weeks.

Anger over 'The Innocence of Muslims', an American-produced film which insults the Prophet Mohammad and demeans Muslims, according to protesters, remains available to watch on the website YouTube, a subsidiary of Google.

Organiser Masoud Alam said: "Our next protest will be at the offices of Google and YouTube across the world. We are looking to ban this film.
Have they even seen the film? Clearly, they haven't. That said, it's worth noting that Hilary Clinton and the State Dept. have actually admitted that they didn't think the film caused the riots in Benghazi (Hat tip: Belmont Club):
The State Department has said that it never believed the September 11th attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi was the result of a protest over an anti-Islam movie – directly contracting the rest of the Obama administration.

By trying to distance her department from the inept and deceptive handling of the Benghazi attack, which left U.S. ambassador Chris Stevens and three other American officials dead, Hillary Clinton could help herself politically for a 2016 presidential run.
Oh, if only. For now, it looks like, for going against what Obama would like to be the narrative, he and the White House staff are throwing Hilary under the bus (Hat tip: Hot Air). I suppose the film was just picked at random as a weak excuse to obscure attention from the clearer answers surrounding this whole affair. Good grief.

Update: in related news, Big Hollywood reports that the comedian Kevin James has lamented Tinseltown's failure to defend the filmmaker's free speech rights.

Update 2: Commentary's Alana Goodman has more.
