Filipino court allows a sharia consultant

MANILA, Philippines – As Filipino Muslim were preparing to celebrate Eidl Fitr this week, the Supreme Court (SC) approved a justice’s plea to have a sharia consultant for the Judicial and Bar Council (JBC).Now, how long is it going to be before they have disasters involving spousal abuse and suits against resturants that don't provide halal food?
In a one-page resolution, the SC en banc granted the letter of Associate Justice Marvic Leonen for the appointment of an expert in Islamic law to the body that vets court nominees.
“The Court resolved to approve in principle the appointment of a sharia consultant for the JBC and a jurisconsult in Islamic Law," the resolution reads.
