Hamas incited riots and sacrifices for sake of jihad, and Egypt condemns Israel for defending itself
As Gazans flanked by Hamas terrorists attempt to breach the border and attack Israelis, Egypt on Monday issued a rare condemnation of the Israel Defense Forces’ defensive actions protecting the Jewish state’s borders. It's a total disgrace of Egypt, and cowardly of them to cave to Hamas. Same with the PLO. If they know they're an evil entity, they should practically be trying to bring them down.
A statement from the Egyptian Foreign Ministry condemned Israel over “the use of force against peaceful marches” and warned of the “negative repercussion of such serious escalation in the Palestinian occupied territories.”
The Egyptian regime, which generally opposes Hamas and imposes its own closures on the Gaza border, remained largely silent during previous Gaza riots. Egypt may fear Hamas could attempt to extend its violent campaign to the Gaza-Sinai border. In the past, the IDF and Egypt reportedly worked together to thwart jihadist encampment in the Egyptian Sinai.
Hamas predictably took advantage of today’s official opening of the U.S. embassy in Jerusalem to stage violent riots aimed at overrunning the Israel-Gaza border.
On the other hand, Australia did condemn Hamas, and not only that, former premier Tony Abbott wants their own embassy to move to Jerusalem too:
The Hamas terrorist organisation is entirely at fault for the deaths in Gaza that have followed the opening of the new U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem, Australia’s Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull said Tuesday. He deserves serious congratulations for his bold call, as does Turnbull for putting the blame in the right place.
Mr. Turnbull said the loss of life was “tragic” but Hamas had to be held responsible for pushing people – including young children – to attack the border in violent confrontation with Israel.
“Any loss of life like this is tragic in circumstances like this, but Hamas’ conduct is confrontational. They’re seeking to provoke the Israeli defence forces,” Mr Turnbull told Australian radio outlet 3AW.
“If they’re pushing people to the border in that context, in that conflict zone, you’re basically pushing people into circumstances where they are very likely to be shot at as Israel seeks to defend itself.”
The Israel Foreign Ministry agreed:
As Mr. Turnbull spoke, the country’s former leader Tony Abbott urged consideration for moving the Australian embassy from its current home in Tel Aviv to Israel’s capital.
