Tel-Chai Nation: De Blasio's NYC council uses Coronavirus as an excuse not to run 9-11 Tribute in Light this year

(UPDATE: as noted below, it looks like the tribute will be held after all.)

The leftists destroying the Big Apple have struck again, as reported by the New York Post:

The iconic Lower Manhattan 9/11 memorial display that features twin beams of light to honor victims of the terror attacks will not shine this year over coronavirus concerns, organizers said Thursday.

The annual “Tribute in Light” display requires a large crew to pull off, the 9/11 Memorial and Museum said on its website, posing health risks this year that “were far too great.”

John Nolte at Breitbart explains why this is a load of bull:

Well, that’s some Grade-A horseshit and we all know it.

What? They can’t wear masks while installing the lights?

I thought masks cured everything?

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not arguing the city should require people do this work during a pandemic. But I think we all know there would be enough volunteers. I mean, I know New York has gone insane in the Trump Era, but I have no doubt enough skilled volunteers could still be found.

As everyone is saying on the Twitters, where was all this concern about close working conditions during the coronavirus when city employees were tasked with painting “Black Lives Matter” in front of Trump Tower?

You’ve all seen the photos. Check out all that city worker proximity going on there.

Also canceled is the in-person ceremony at Ground Zero where, among others, family members read the names of the 9/11 victims.

So instead of the iconic light tribute, an “alternative” has been announced where some buildings will be “lighting up their facades and spires in blue on 9/11.”

Also, thankfully, a nonprofit called the Tunnel to Towers Foundation will hold the name-reading ceremony in Lower Manhattan.

Even so, this marks one of the worst moments at a time when cities run by leftists are plummeting in safety and economic stability. De Blasio and company will have to go. They're leading the city to absolute ruin, all over petty politics, and it's beyond nauseating at this point.

Update 2: thankfully, it appears NY governor Andrew Cuomo, Democrat though he may be, is offering common sense, as is Michael Bloomberg, and ensuring the memorial will take place after all:

NYS will provide health personnel & supervision so that @Sept11Memorial can mount the Tribute in Light safely.

I am glad that we can continue this powerful tribute to those we lost on 9/11 and to the heroism of all New Yorkers.
