Haredi rabbi in Beitar Illit doesn't want women to be feminine
Rabbi Haim Weiss, the rabbi of Beitar Illit, a haredi city in Judea, has called on the city's women to increase in modesty. His opposition to women driving is most tellingly offensive. Considering Saudi Arabia recently allowed women to drive, something Donald Trump worked for, why does the embarrassment in Beitar Illit want to do the opposite? This is precisely what ends up drawing attention to the Jewish community for all the wrong reasons. The rabbi even said:
Among other things, Rabbi Weiss has called on Beitar Illit's women to refrain from driving. His words, published on Behadrey Haredim, include a claim that the late Rabbi Wosner would often request that women not drive vehicles, for reasons of modesty.
On another issue, he added, "There are women who grow out their fingernails, with nail polish or without nail polish. Such things never used to happen in our circles... This is for secular women."Says who? Only somebody who thinks femininity has no place in religion, that's for sure. Which sure is ironic when you think of how these fanatics are supposedly against homosexuality and even transsexuality. Just what do such Haredi jerks want women to be then? And they wonder why anybody with more common sense in the world of Judaism could find them a devastating embarrassment?
