Miss India wins the 2021 Universe pageant
Miss India Harnaaz Sandhu was named Miss Universe on Sunday, at the 70th annual Miss Universe event hosted in the southern Israeli resort town of Eilat. Many congratulations to Sandhu for her victory. It's also good that Morocco sent a contestant for a change, though if she was supposed to dress modestly, that was wrong. Seriously. Because all that does is enforce the perception that a woman's body is an abomination instead of a blessing. That's one of the things wrong with Islam that has to be cut out.
The competition was a historic one: It was the first time the Jewish state hosted the iconic pageant. It also marked the first time that a delegate from the United Arab Emirates has competed, and the first time in over 40 years that Miss Morocco returned to the pageant.
Sandhu, 21, beat out 79 other contestants from around the world in the race for the crown, becoming the third Indian woman to hold the title following Sushmita Sen in 1994 and Lara Dutta in 2000.
Miss Paraguay Nadia Ferreira was named the first runner-up and second the runner-up is Miss South Africa Lalela Mswane.
In addition to this news, the South African government's been asked to apologize to Mswane for trying to get her to boycott Israel after she won in the top 3 ranks:
The South African government is being urged to apologize to Miss South Africa Lalela Mswane after she finished in the top three of the Miss Universe competition in Israel on Sunday night — after her own country withdrew its support for her efforts because she would not boycott the Jewish state. And they'd do well to heed the advice. Their boycott was uncalled for, politicizing the whole issue, and they'd do well to cease all involvement with the BDS movement.
While several Arab nations participated in the Miss Universe pageant, the South African government, under the influence of the anti-Israel “boycott, divestment, and sanctions” (BDS) movement, urged Mswane to withdraw. When she refused, the South African government said it would not support her candidacy.
On Sunday night, Mswane turned in an classic performance, finishing in the top three as 2nd Runner-up. Now, Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture Nathi Mthethwa is being urged to apologize.
The only other problem with the pageant aside from those was when one of the local managers, Asaf Blacher, pandered to wokeness by attempting to get the main management to drop the swimwear segments. That was wrong, and he owes an apology to both them and the contestents whom he insulted with his PC/SJW statements to the press. Why, this Mr. Blacher shouldn't even be working in the business if he really believes the concept is "outdated". There's a valid market for it, even in religion, IMHO. So people like him would do well to cease all that propaganda they tried spouting earlier, which is demeaning to women, NOT the swimsuits.
