Left-wing propaganda tour wants participants to dress modestly in Arab village

A left-wing organization demonstrates hypocrisy on issues of modesty involving Muslims, something they wouldn't do for Judaists:
The left-wing organization 'The Forum for Regional Thinking' is planning to conduct a tour in the Samaria village of Huwara, which has been the site of multiple shooting attacks against Israelis this year. The organization sent a message to participants telling them that modest dress will be required during the tour, meaning only long pants and shirts with sleeves for both men and women.

The invitation to the tour states: "The purpose of the tour is to create an encounter and familiarization with the day-to-day reality of life under occupation and to strengthen the communities in the area along with increasing Israeli awareness of the situation in the territories. Please arrive in socially appropriate clothing - long pants for men and women, no tank tops, etc."

The Torat Lehima organization posted a screenshot of the invitation on their Twitter account and asked: "The Handmaid's Tale?"

Many social media users accused the left-wing organization of hypocrisy and compared the criticism given to haredi modesty standards, which are frequently compared to 'The Handmaid's Tale' book and television series, with the complete lack of criticism of the modesty standards of the Arab village.

One social media user commented: "If it had been an invitation to a tour by some haredi organization, we would have already heard members of the Knesset speaking out against it and shouting "Iran is here", we would see "The Handmaid's Tale" performances and, of course, endless reports in the media. Some people will wear "modest clothing" to respect Muslims but not to respect religious Jews. Oh, the hypocrisy."

Left-wing activist Eran Zedekiah responded to the Torat Lehima organization and wrote: "Since there is a chance that we will meet, among others, Jewish settlers and Muslim residents who are religious and traditional, we are trying to take their feelings into account and adapt ourselves culturally."
Ahem. If I lived around that area, I'd be insulted if women dressed modestly, as though I couldn't handle the sight. This certainly is hypocrisy by an organization that's clearly anti-Israeli, but we shouldn't let this case obscure the fact that it's wrong to demand women cover up as though their bodies are literally an abomination and ugly. That's the message sent by such a demand, whether those calling for "modesty" realize it or not.

The real reason to condemn this besides the anti-Israeli angle, is that the leftist organization's slighting women's dignity when they go about demanding such approaches. As a result, their MO is nothing more than - what else? - sexist.
