The IDF was lucky to have spotted some jihadists in the Rafah area of Gaza trying to infiltrate Israeli space:

A group of terrorists near Rafah were spotted attempting to infiltrate into Israel over the Gaza border but were stopped by IDF soldiers operating in the area.

The soldiers only belatedly identified the terrorists, who opened fire on them. A firefight subsequently ensued, and subsequently, an Israel Air Force fighter attacked the terrorists, killing two. A third was killed by IDF tank fire shortly after.

The IDF said that the terrorists did not cross the security barrier along the Gaza Strip. However, they could still get through the one-kilometer buffer zone before the border was uninhibited. The IDF is currently investigating why they were able to make it through the zone where Palestinian entry is prohibited.

This was a close call. However, it looks like there was tragedy that struck:

The IDF announced on Thursday afternoon that a soldier was killed during a pre-dawn infiltration attempt from Gaza by Hamas terrorists that was thwarted by Israeli forces.

The slain soldier was named as Warrant Officer Zeed Mazarib, 34, a tracker in the Gaza Division’s Southern Brigade, from the Lower Galilee Bedouin village of Zarzir.

His death brings the total number of slain military personnel since the start of the Gaza ground operation on Oct. 27 to 294, and to 646 on all fronts since the start of the war on Oct. 7.

Hamas took responsibility for the attempt, in which Israeli forces killed three terrorists who tried to infiltrate into Israel from the Rafah area of the Gaza Strip.

Much of the Hamas' jihadists may be getting terminated by the IDF now, but this is still a horrible tragedy.

Also of note, some more jihadists who participated in October 7, 2023 were wiped out by IDF troops:

IAF fighter jets, directed by IDF intelligence and the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet), early Thursday morning conducted a precise strike on a Hamas compound embedded inside an UNRWA school in the area of Nuseirat.

The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit said that Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorists who belonged to the Nukhba Forces and took part in the murderous attack on communities in southern Israel on October 7th were operating in the compound.

The terrorists directed terror from the area of the school while exploiting it and using it as a shelter. “Several terrorists who planned to carry out terror attacks and promote terrorist activities against IDF troops in the immediate time frame were eliminated in the strike, the statement said.”

As further noted, this mission put a stop to a "ticking time bomb". This also makes clear how the UN is evil, if they allowed the Hamas to use their buildings.
