Dubya continues to ignore PLO's violations
On a day when Abbas refused to demand that Hamas and Islamic Jihad disarm, the President of the United States declared that Abbas, "has made a commitment to fight off violence, because he understands a democracy can't exist with terrorist groups trying to take the law into their hands."Both Dubya and Condi have really gone off the rails lately, as even this report shows. The American and Israeli publics alike would be strongly advised not to let the Bush administration deceive them as they are with such appalling ignorance of the situation at hand.
With this response to a reporter's question following the expression of similar sentiments yesterday ("President Abbas has rejected violence and taken steps toward democratic reform.") President Bush has confirmed that he stands behind Condi Rice's declarations that praise the Palestinians for things they have not done and fail to reiterate that they must produce results on the fighting terrorism front in response to Israel's controversial withdrawal. Bush certainly pushed the envelope when he equated Israel and the Palestinians:"Both Israelis and Palestinians have elected governments committed to peace and progress..." This would be laughable if the words did not come from the American President.

If Abbas is planning a swift round up of all known terrorists, he is likely to lose all credibility with the Palestinians. This is because Abbas has been visibly aligning himself with the popular martyr theory. Last week, banners waved across Gaza proclaiming that “The blood of martyrs has led to liberation.” Then, Abbas attended Friday prayers at Caliph Mosque, where the imam announced, “Allah knows that when we offer up our children, it is much better than choosing the road of humiliation and negotiation.” Additionally, the PA’s official radio station - Ramallah Voice of Palestine - continues to broadcast messages that Israelis “want neither a solution nor peace.” These statements are synonymous with those of Hamas, and the Palestinians are listening.

Would you please be so kind as to elaborate as to what President George W. Bush is really, or maybe better said, ultimately, going for in his blatantly anti-Jewish assaults against the State of Israel? In other words, what is it that you think he wants to create in the long-run regarding ISRAEL and the Middle East?

I'm not a mind reader, but Bush seems to be trying to push Israel back to the 1949 armistice lines, which was the Rogers plan going back to 1969. Those armistice lines were not defensible borders, so he seems to want to make Israel defenseless, take away the human and national rights of Jews, and violate resolution 242, which called for establishing "secure and recognized boundaries" for Israel. But if the boundaries are not defensible, then they're not secure, and will only invite more Arab attacks.
