Celine Dion donates aid for New Orleans, but Angelina Jolie and Oprah Winfrey are absent
Debbie Schlussel reports that Canadian singer Celine Dion has donated $1 million in aid for victims of Katrina in Louisiana and Mississipi, but that Angelina Jolie and Oprah Winfrey don't seem to have followed suit.

Jolie, as told here:
She didn't give any $s to Hurricaid, the way she does for Palestinian kids in Jordan who sing of taking revenge on Jews (about which she lovingly wrote in her smarmy U.N. diary). But non-angelic Angelina has no problem spouting off and criticizing U.S. rescue and relief efforts. And--how helpful--she wrote whining letters to Members of Congress about it. Where's that bizarre husband-stealer's checkbook that usually opens so fast for those in Islamic nations? As for Winfrey, it's absolutely awful that she turned traitor after 9-11, becoming an apologist for Islam instead of at least asking if it's in any ways supportive of crime and violence. And that these two "celebs" should be putting such tommyrot on a higher level of importance than helping people who're really in need even in the US, is simply distasteful. (Also on Basil's Blog.)
Yes, Jolie participated in a 1-hour televised fundraiser on Thursday in New York, but the multi-millionairess gave $0 of her own money (had she given a dime, she and her publicists would make sure we knew)--and she did so only after Robert De Niro shut down the set of the movie she was working on and told her to do it.
