Call this the week when faux-tography was exposed

There's still more coming in this week about doctored photos, not just by Reuters but also by the New York Times, US News & World Report, and many other news sources. Here's a rundown of all the reports on what's now known as faux-tography being exposed.

For example, here's one about a car supposedly destroyed by the IDF fire near Kfar Zabad in Lebanon, and also a US News staging that uses a garbage dump as its setup! More on this subject can be found here and here.

The AP also had a doctored photo in their databases, and the AFP misidentified a katyusha rocket as an Israeli missile.

A 2004 sob story picture exposed as an even bigger one with paparazzi involved!

A New York Times movie stunt wherein a stunt performer buries himself under some rubble, all the while keeping his chest as clean as possible!

Ace of Spades finds a dress mannequin that bounced out of an explosion and landed on its feet! But even more eyebrow raising is surely how the very same Muslim photographer who tried that filthy con job on everybody, Adnan Hajj, apparently burned a copy of a koran and filmed it burning while doing so, all this in order to smear Israel some more. Is there some sort of a permit in Islam for jihad propagandists to burn korans as long as it helps their cause?

There's much more, including two podcasts from Michelle Malkin and some more commentary from Newsbusters, LGF, and the Boston Herald.

you can be dishonest with a photo without falsifying or altering the photo itself in any way, but by faking the caption. The AP and NYT did this at the beginning of the present war between Israel and the PLO in September-October 2000. A bleeding young Jewish man [Tuvia Grossman, as I recall] was pulled out of a taxicab and beaten near the gas station outside the northeastern corner of the Old City of Jerusalem. He was rescued from his Arab assailants by a Israel Druze policeman wearing a helmet. The liars at AP identified Grossman as an Arab and the policeman as an Israeli cop beating Grossman, when in fact the victim was Jewish and was saved by the cop. The original mistake was apparently the AP's, but the NYTimes did not want to acknowledge the mistake and gave the correction very little space on an inside page, when they finally agreed to publish a correction.
