Two examples of Haredis overseas violating Coronavirus lockdown regulations
The United States reportedly has cancelled a work visa for an Israeli man who flew home from Newark, New Jersey, despite knowing that he had tested positive for the coronavirus. So he didn't even have insurance, yet he traveled to the US despite that? What a disgrace. He better voluntarily accept charges for reckless endangerment, and United Airlines would do well to ban him from flying their planes ever again.
The man did not notify the United Airlines crew that he had the virus when he boarded the fight.
The Israeli passenger is from the largely haredi Orthodox Jewish city of Beitar Illit and reportedly works to certify whether foods are being produced in accordance with Jewish dietary laws.
He flew to the United States last week despite having taken a COVID-19 test in Israel. He was informed of his positive test result while in the United States, Israel’s Channel 12 reported, and he flew back to Israel because he did not have insurance for health care in the United States. His family informed Israeli authorities while he was en route.
The plane carrying 50 passengers landed Friday. The passengers were taken to a hotel allowing people to remain in isolation for 14 days, as is required for all new arrivals right now. The infected man was taken to a separate hotel for people who are carrying the virus, and he could face criminal charges in Israel.
The second example comes from Britain, where members of a Haredi community in London's Golders Green borough broke the rules to hold a wedding with far too many people in attendance:
Forty guests attended an extravagant Jewish wedding in the middle of lockdown this week and mocked police when they tried to intervene by offering them a beer.I can understand - up to a point - why this has happened. These Haredis seem to think their alleged faith in God will literally protect their health, this despite how Corona infections in their insular communities have been so high, and even Britain's seen a significant
Extraordinary footage shows the guests of Mimi Friedlander and Zevi Begal gathering in the garden of a large north London home.
They were treated to a luxurious meal laid out on long tables covered in white tablecloths, with orchids lavishly draped around the room.
The videos then captured the moment the police entered the premises to try and break up the party, only to be met by people offering them drinks and laughing.
Officers had already attended the property in Golders Green before the wedding, investigating complaints from neighbours about the gathering during lockdown.
But the owner of the property, Rabbi Doniel Kleiman, told police that the celebration was just for 10 members of the same family, all of whom lived at the address.
Footage from later that day shows a gathering of about 40 guests celebrating the strictly orthodox wedding in the garden, with a kosher feast set up inside.
Police officers returned at 9pm to find the party in full swing. In the footage, an officer is seen saying 'I'm crashing the party'. A reveller then replies, 'do you want to have a little drink? A beer?' The policeman dismisses the offer out of hand.
Seeing that many guests had quickly left, the officer then says, 'there are obviously loads of tables and chairs but not enough people,' before adding, 'I'm not happy with that, I tell you.'
A heated argument then ensued with police outside the house. No arrests were made but Met sources confirmed that one person was fined.
At about 11pm, the couple were filmed leaving to sounds of raucous whoops and cheers from their guests, driving past a police van parked outside the house.
One onlooker told MailOnline: 'It's a despicable thing for the Jewish community in general and the actions of a small number has given us all a bad name.
'Judaism holds life in such high regard and I can't understand why this has happened.' [...]
The father-of-the-bride, Moishe Friedlander, was chairman of the Hackney Metropolitan police Independent Advisory Group for five years. Today he confirmed that the outcry over the wedding has forced him to resign.
Here's also a comment by somebody who may be a former Haredi:
The tables were set for over 100 people with music flowers and food. And they are hiding when police arrive???? Why don’t they care that their own are dying ffs! When they get ill with #COVID19 will the #NHS have to help them? #wedding #Hasidic pic.twitter.com/BWQyQRA6g6— Diary Of An OTD Girl (@DiaryOtdGirl) April 22, 2020
Well there's a definitely valid point there. If they really care about their own lives, they wouldn't be going out of their way to endanger them to illness as they have. This only underscores how the ideology many Haredi clans go by indoctrinates them into becoming irresponsible, and that man who was on an advisory board for the London police had no business being there if he's going to be so lacking in understanding of what a pandemic is. The very pandemic that had its similarities in Egypt, and they don't even grasp that! How can they really be faithful to Judaism then?
The worst part is how this takes away vital attention from violations Islamists could be committing, and these Haredis probably know it. That's why it's all the more a disgrace what they're doing.
