More cases of Hollywood actors charged with sexual assault turn up

Here's some more cases turning up some time after the Harvey Weinstein scandal 3 years back, exposing Hollywood as the cesspool of evil-accepting scumbags they sadly are. For example, there's Danny Masterson, the former co-star of That 70s Show, a satirical take on the late 1970s era, who was recently arrested for at least 3 rapes he committed in the early 2000s:
That ’70s Show actor Danny Masterson was charged with the rapes of three women in the early 2000s, Los Angeles prosecutors said Wednesday, the culmination of a three-year investigation that resulted in a rare arrest of a famous Hollywood figure in the #MeToo era.

The three counts of rape by force or fear against Masterson were filed Tuesday, and an arrest warrant isssued. Masterson, 44, was arrested late Wednesday morning, jail records showed. He was released a few hours later after posting bond and is scheduled to be arraigned Sept. 18. [...]

Prosecutors allege that Masterson raped a 23-year-old woman sometime in 2001, a 28-year-old woman in April of 2003, and a 23-year-old woman he had invited to his Hollywood Hills home between October and December of 2003.

If convicted, he could face up to 45 years in prison.
If memory serves, the TV series he starred in was produced by the same outfit behind the Cosby Show. This is not going to look good on their resume going forward. Also of note in Masterson's recent case:
He had reunited with Kutcher on the Netflix western sitcom The Ranch when the LAPD investigation of him was revealed in March 2017. The news did not have immediate career repercussions for Masterson, but later in the year, after allegations against Harvey Weinstein shook Hollywood’s culture, he was written off the show.

Masterson decried the Hollywood atmosphere that led to his losing the job, and also suggested at the time that his high-profile membership in the Church of Scientology was leading to his persecution.
L. Ron Hubbard's movement has long been viewed as very shady, and this isn't going to help their reputation.

Another, more recent example, is actor Cuba Gooding, who's been accused of more such crimes:
Actor Cuba Gooding Jr, already charged for groping three women, has also been accused of raping a woman in 2013, according to a civil lawsuit filed Tuesday.

In the complaint, registered with the Manhattan federal court and reported by several US media outlets, an anonymous woman accused the 52-year-old actor of raping her in a Manhattan hotel seven years ago.

After inviting her for a drink, Gooding — who won the 1997 Oscar for best supporting actor for his role in “Jerry Maguire” — took her up to his room.

The woman said the actor prevented her from leaving once he began undressing in front of her, then pushed her onto the bed and raped her twice even though she kept asking him to stop. [...]

Since 2019, some 20 women have accused Gooding of inappropriate touching or sexual harassment.

He was charged with sexual aggression towards three of the women behind the accusations.

The actor’s trial in Manhattan was set to begin in April before it was postponed indefinitely due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.

[...] Gooding became known for his role in the movie “Boyz n the Hood” (1991). He recently portrayed OJ Simpson in the mini-series “American Crime Story: The People v OJ Simpson” (2016).
And Simpson's long gained considerable notoriety for the crimes he committed. So this isn't going to improve the situation one bit.

One has to wonder if this'll lead to reruns of Masterson's That 70s Show being taken off the air, as the Cosby Show was after its star was accused and later charged and convicted for his own past crimes, and if any of Gooding's past products will also suffer from less broadcasting and sales as a result of what's going on now. One thing that's for certain as of now, though, is that it only compounds the bad image Tinseltown's getting due to their lack of responsibility on these issues.

Update: in similar news, the Ellen deGeneres Show's also got a serious scandal involving sexual assault and harassment that's led to a number of staffers resigning from the production. What are the chances the star of the show knew what was going on as well?

Update 2: it's interesting to note that Gooding wore a surgical mask with Black Lives Matter on it to court. What does that say about his personality?
