SCOTUS sides with Yeshiva University against attempt to force them to accept LGBT movement
The Supreme Court ruled on Friday to temporarily block a New York judge’s order to force Yeshiva University to recognize a club for LGBTQ students until the college’s religious freedom case is completed. It's good to have this ruling, but above all, if YU is a private institution, then of course it's their business to determine what movements are suited for their campus, not the state.
Justice Sonia Sotomayer signed the order that included no dissents in the Friday ruling. Sotomayer signed the ruling as she is the circuit justice for the Second District that includes New York.
“Yeshiva shouldn’t have been forced to go all the way to the Supreme Court to receive such a commonsense ruling in favor of its First Amendment rights,” Eric Baxter, vice president and senior counsel at Becket, said in a statement sent to The Daily Wire following the ruling.
“We are grateful that Justice Sotomayor stepped in to protect Yeshiva’s religious liberty in this case,” he added.
While this is good news so far, whatever the final ruling, something opponents of LGBT ideology might want to consider is this: how come nobody upholding heterosexuality makes any attempt to start a serious movement for heterosexual pride marches, and even - very seriously now - lovemaking along those lines in public? If they really want to counter all the sad cases of promoting LGBT ideology seen now, they should start movements to reflect an upholding of heterosexuality. Is that truly so hard? I think Orthodox Judaists - and even Christians - should begin to consider.
