Last year's Miss Israel pageant was apparently cancelled over woke ideology
The move by organisers of the Israel contest, which was quietly announced last week, drew a range of responses from past winners, from lamenting the development to welcoming the event’s demise. In recent years the pageant has faced criticism for judging women on their physical appearance.Excuse me? What's wrong with that? Regrettably, one of the past contestants buys into this whole liberal-feminist belief:
Sella Sharlin, Miss Israel 2019, told Radio 103FM, “I think that the competition, for those who aren’t familiar with it in depth, today gives a lot of tools to anyone who is chosen.”Now what does that sound like? Answer: the Miss America pageant doing exactly that already. Needless to say, if she believes being sexy is wrong for women, that's offensive to all past, present and future generations of the fairer sex. What about beauty isn't power? Is upholding it not building confidence, which is a form of power? She is pathetic.
She spoke about the work that winning the contest had led to, including “lectures that I later got to give to youth. I founded a group of associations that deal with financial education for youth.
“At the end of the day, this competition gives a platform and a place for women to lead, to initiate, and not necessarily to talk about beauty,” Sharlin said.
She suggested changes could have been made, such as dropping the swimwear section of the contest and placing more emphasis on “standing in front of an audience, speaking, leading things, giving space to female power. Not for beauty or the looks of women.”
Sharlin, who was on the panel of judges in the last contest, said that there have been changes made to reflect current attitudes, but admitted they have not been enough and are not demonstrated in the contest itself. One can only wonder if Sharlin believes it's pefectly acceptable for transsexual men to participate and be awarded 1st prize for the contest, much as the current management of the now collapsing Miss America contest sadly do. If she does, she should be ashamed of herself. That kind of propaganda and ideology has already long been hurting women, especially in sports, to name but one example.
Sivan Klein, the 2003 contest winner who went on to become a Channel 12 television host, backed the cancellation. Is that supposed to insinuate a woman who dares to wear a bikini is stupid? Ditto a crown? What kind of idiot does Klein think she is? She's practically running the gauntlet of parroting an insane claim that attractive women aren't intelligent.
In a video post to Channel 12’s website, she welcomed the end of the contest, saying that while it may have had its merits, it is outdated.
“Queen Elizabeth has died, and now the beauty queen contest is buried,” she said. “Definitely not a time to be a queen, but maybe it’s a slightly better time to be a woman.”
Noting the range of ethnicities of past winners and the achievements that some went on to realise, she said, “There were real queens, regardless of beauty, and the organisers really thought it was important to empower women, but come on… in 2020-something, you can also say that this competition is no longer a thing.”
The contest, she said, is “shallow. It asks smart questions of smart women, in a bikini. It places a crown on the head and at the same time, a ceiling.”
Linor Abargil, who was crowned in 1998 and has since become a lawyer and actress while also embracing Orthodox Judaism said in an Instagram post last week that it was time to end the contest.More embarrassment coming from an openly religious woman this time. She believes that something meant to inspire women and make them proud and confident in their sexuality is wrong? This is what's called wokeness, and religious advocates led to a lot of this well before secular ideologues promoting LGBT ideology did. I think Abargil also owes an apology to all the women she's insulting worldwide.
“A woman is not a body or a face and no one in the world has the right to criticise us, or to assess our weight to see if it matches what is going on in the market!” she wrote. “People change, the world changes, it is permissible to say we were wrong and move on to a world where women will continue to run the world but only because of who they are, and not because of anything else.”
However, one reason why it's not entirely a bad thing if this particular contest was cancelled is because it's been sponsored by leftist Yediot Achronot and their La'Isha magazine affiliate. So based on how they're embracing woke ideology these days, it's not a surprise they could stoop to this. If they're not in the game anymore, at least we won't have to see them send an Israeli candidate to participate in the Miss Universe contest, which has now been bought by a transsexual man, and has even gone out of their way to pull more liberal nonsense.
What I'm hoping is that not only will a right-wing business in Israel form their own separate pageant, but that religious sources will give it their backing too, without acting as though it literally contradicts Judaism, Orthodox or otherwise. I'll appreciate if any Israeli-based sources with a pro-Zionist position will consider what I've recommended here, and set about developing one of their own, and it doesn't have to be something where the contestants will proceed to participate in a more major pageant now run by leftist ideologues. Just beginning it locally can be enough.
