UK may ban use of PLO flags
British Home Secretary Suella Braverman wrote to police leaders in England and Wales that the waving of Palestinian flags and other pro-Palestinian symbols "may not be legitimate" and could require police intervention after antisemitic demonstrators rejoiced in the streets of London over the massacre of over 1,200 people in southern Israel by Hamas terrorists on Saturday.Symbols like the PLO flag have virtually come to symbolize violence for many years, and have thus been carried by supporters of barbarism. Such people have also got to be removed from sane societies sooner or later.
“It is not just explicit pro-Hamas symbols and chants that are cause for concern. I would encourage police to consider whether chants such as: ‘From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free’ should be understood as an expression of a violent desire to see Israel erased from the world, and whether its use in certain contexts may amount to a racially aggravated section 5 public order offence," Braverman wrote to the police officers.
“I would encourage police to give similar consideration to the presence of symbols such as swastikas at anti-Israel demonstrations. Context is crucial. Behaviours that are legitimate in some circumstances, for example, the waving of a Palestinian flag, may not be legitimate such as when intended to glorify acts of terrorism," she added.
“Nor is it acceptable to drive through Jewish neighbourhoods, or single out Jewish members of the public, to aggressively chant or wave pro-Palestinian symbols at. Where harassment is identified, I would encourage the police to take swift and appropriate enforcement action.
Update: also over in the UK, Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling slammed how there's now schools who're telling Jewish students to conceal their identities:
School officials in the United Kingdom have reportedly begun to advise Jewish students to hide their identities while walking to and from school — apparently out of fear that something could happen to them if they didn’t.Of course. What should really be done is make a serious call for better security for all. The cowardice practiced has never worked at all.
“Harry Potter” author J.K. Rowling shared a photo of a newspaper story out of London that mentioned children leaving certain items of clothing behind — or covering them up — in an effort to limit the visual cues identifying them as Jews.
“We said ‘never again.’ The UK was a safe haven,” Rowling posted via X. “Now, after the biggest massacre of Jews since the holocaust, British Jewish children are being advised to hide their identities as they walk to school, for their own safety. There should be mass outrage that this is necessary.”
