Zohran Mamdani remains unconvincing, and very repellent

Neither Mamdani nor Andrew Cuomo actually congratulated Trump on what he was able to secure, and only Curtis Sliwa pointed this out:
"Of course, I believe that they should lay down their arms," Mamdani said on the debate stage in New York City alongside former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Republican Curtis Sliwa.
Mamdani was responding to a question from a moderator who said his previous answer, made to Fox News anchor Martha MacCallum, was "confusing," after he dodged questions when she asked if he believes Hamas should lay down weapons and leave leadership in Gaza, according to the ceasefire agreement it entered into.
"I don't really have opinions about the future of Hamas and Israel beyond the question of justice and safety," Mamdani said, reiterating that both Hamas and the Israeli military should abide by international law.
"I'm proud to be one of the first elected officials in the state who called for a ceasefire and calling for a ceasefire means ceasefire," Mamdani said on the debate stage on Thursday.
"That means all parties have to cease fire and put down their weapons. And the reason that we call for that is not only for the end of the genocide, but also an unimpeded access of humanitarian aid. I, like many New Yorkers, and I'm hopeful that this ceasefire will hold."
Republican Curtis Sliwa, the only candidate to mention Trump by name in his response to news of the Israeli hostages being released, took issue with that stance on the debate stage.Well, it's clear even Cuomo's a bad lot in that regard, and it's also inexplicable a man previously accused of sexual misconduct is running for NYC mayor, especially after working in a more challenging job as state governor. As may have been noted before, Cuomo's probably doing it to make Mamdani look the better, even though Mamdani once gave chilling signs he has a lenient view of such issues as well.
"The president of the United States should have been applauded by you, Zohran Mamdani, and you, Andrew Cuomo," Sliwa said.
Even here, it's reported Mamdani wouldn't condemn murders of Jews:
Cuomo then cut in, saying, "that means from the river to the sea." Sliwa then said he feels like he is being "marginalized" on the stage and denounced Mamdani and Cuomo for not praising President Donald Trump for the Israel and Hamas peace deal. "Give credit where credit is due," Sliwa said.It may be no surprise if he's the one to make an ostensibly valid point that left-wingers can't just speak with commentators whose politics coincide with theirs. But neither is it surprising Mamdani continues to hint at his baseless hatred for Netanyahu. He also resorted to taqqiya (deception):
"I did applaud President Trump and his administration. I think it was a great accomplishment, and I hope the peace holds. The assemblyman will not denounce Hamas," Cuomo said. "The assemblyman will not denounce Hasan Piker, who said America deserved 9/11. The assemblyman just said in his response, 'Well, it depends on occupation.' That is code meaning that ... Israel does not have a right to exist as a Jewish state, which he has never acknowledged."
Cuomo continued, "that is from the river to the sea, that’s why he won’t denounce globalize the intifada. Which means kill all Jews.”
Mamdani responded: “I want to be very clear; the occupation is a reference to international law and the violation of it. Which Mr. Cuomo has no regard for since he signed up to be Benjamin Netanyahu’s legal defense team during the course of this genocide. And I find the comments that Hasan made on 9/11 to be objectionable and reprehensible, and I also think that part of the reason why Democrats are in the situation that we are in, of being a permanent minority in this country, is we are looking only to speak to journalists and streamers and Americans with whom we agree of every single thing that they say.
“As a Muslim man who grew up post-9/11, I am all too familiar in which the way Arabic words can be twisted, can be distorted, can be used to justify any kind of meaning, and I think that’s what leaves me with the sense of what we need to do is focus on keeping Jewish New Yorkers safe, and the question of permissibility of language is something that I haven’t ventured into,” he said in the June interview. The only Jewish NYrs he's willing to keep "safe" are those who agree with his repellent politics. He also hints at use of victimology, which is really no surprise for him. Mamdani's disgusting double-standards were also reported here:
His remarks stirred backlash from many Democrats, including House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, who has not endorsed Mamdani.
Zohran Mamdani, the leading candidate in the New York City mayoral race, repeatedly accused Israel of genocide, highlighted his “meaningful” talks with Jewish New Yorkers and denounced the Hamas terrorist group in a debate on Thursday.More on Mamdani's double-standards here. That's all you need to know he remains as horrific as ever in his conduct. If Mamdani's elected mayor, it'll be a dark day indeed.
Mayoral candidates Mamdani, former New York governor Andrew Cuomo, and Republican Curtis Sliwa debated ahead of the November 4 election at a discussion that covered Jewish topics including Israel, antisemitism and street protests.
When asked about the Gaza war, Mamdani accused Israel of genocide three times within a few minutes.
Update: Daniel Greenfield says experts have warned that Mamdani's proposals on crime issues will make it harder to prevent violence against women, sexual or otherwise.
