Netanyahu takes issue with repellent comments made by 3 Gantz associates
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu highlighted racial tensions on Friday when he accused a Blue and White MK of racism against immigrants from North African and Middle Eastern countries. What Hendel said is disgusting, and it's terrible anybody wants to vote for them. The revelations even drew condemnations from the left:
MK Yoaz Hendel said in an interview with Ha'aretz that "people came here from many countries, some with a mentality of a concert in Vienna and some came with a mentality of darbukas (Middle Eastern drums)."
Netanyahu retweeted a Likud statement on Twitter that said that Hendel should be ashamed of himself. The tweet compared Hendel to leftist artist and author Yair Garboz, who made news ahead of the 2015 election when he compared Likud voters “primitives” who “bow down at the graves of the dead.”
Shas MK Yaakov Margi said immigrants from North Africa and the Middle East brought with them a rich culture, science and medicine. Meretz MK Tamar Zandberg called Hendel a "Trojan horse" who is trying to prevent a political upheval.Netanyahu also called for Gantz to fire Ronen Tzur as his advisor, and to part ways with Joel Benenson, who took a similar route:
After hailing US President Donald Trump's Middle-East peace plan, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is pulling all stops to be in the recently acquitted President's good books. Netanyahu called upon Blue and White leader Benny Gantz on Saturday night to fire adviser Ronen Tzur for his comments comparing Trump to Hitler, according to international reports. He also reportedly told Gantz to distance himself from former adviser Joel Benenson too for making such similar comparisons.Gantz would be wise to follow Netanyahu's advice, and not associate with such atrocious aides any longer.
