Vladimir Putin's come out and proven he's evil
Ukrainians have been hearing warnings of war for weeks. The nightmare scenario finally unfolded on Thursday as airports were closed, martial law declared and news of Russian airstrikes was announced.Surely the worst part of this is that despite any claims to the contrary, chances are that US fraud-in-chief Joe Biden won't take any proper action to prevent an escalation into serious disaster, any more than he did to prevent the Taliban retaking of Afghanistan last year. Which ought to send a message that the US cannot be relied upon anymore as a means for defense against totalitarians who should've been deposed long ago.
“The Russian operation hit all military infrastructure including Lviv and attacked airfields,” according to Anton Skyba, a local journalist and expert on the situation. Skyba has many years of experience covering the conflict, especially in the Donbas where Russian-backed separatists took over two breakaway areas in 2014. Today, he is a local producer for media.
Skyba says that while there are no reports of civilian casualties yet, when we spoke at 9 a.m., the military strikes across Ukraine were concerning. Russia reportedly used cruise missiles to carry out the attacks, which began between four and five in the morning.
“A lot of people have seen the Ukrainian military trying to get to their locations and there is martial law," he said. "Many people are quite relaxed but there are multiple reports that highways are full of traffic.” Video from Kyiv this morning showed endless traffic leaving the city that was at a standstill.
One of the most disgusting defenses Putin's using for justifying this horror is:
Russian President Vladimir Putin declared war on Ukraine in a surprise television announcement at roughly 6:00 a.m. Moscow time, 10:00 p.m. Eastern. The Russian dictator described the unprovoked attack as a “special military operation for the de-Militarization and de-Nazification of Ukraine.”Tragically, occupation - exactly what Israel's enemies are always accusing of - is bound to occur soon unless any convincing effort is made by those who actually care to prevent what Putin's leading to, which, in some ways, is apparently rebuilding the former USSR, bringing us right back to a situation similar to what around during the Cold War. What's particularly insulting about Putin's statement is that Ukraine has a Jewish president, which makes Putin's pathetic defense all the more hollow. Here's more photographs from around Ukraine of what's been happening.
“I’ve made the decision to conduct a special military operation,” Putin said. “Our analysis has concluded that our confrontation with these forces [in Ukraine] was inevitable.”
“This is the red line that I have spoken of many times. They have crossed it,” he said, accusing the Ukrainians of “genocide” for attacking the two new “independent republics” he unilaterally conjured into existence on Monday.
“Russia cannot feel safe, develop, and exist with a constant threat emanating from the territory of modern Ukraine,” he said.
Putin bizarrely claimed Russia’s plans “do not include occupation of Ukrainian territory” and “we are not going to impose anything on anyone by force,” even as Russia launched missile attacks at targets across Ukraine, including its capital city of Kyiv.
Donald Trump addressed the crisis:
Trump blamed the Biden administration, and the show of what he suggested was weakness, which started with the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan.Correct. Of course, more serious effort should've been put into demanding that most "leaders" from foreign countries who could be harboring evil intent change their ways and abandon their positions of power, better still, along with changing their education systems. Now, no thanks to a whole astonishing case of complacency and naive standings, we now have a situation unfolding where an autocratic regime is resuming a position it had been in decades before, undoing a lot of hard work to bring about a peaceful environment where wars of aggression are a thing of the past. This, along with the loss of Afghanistan, is what Biden and company will be remembered for.
“This is something that should have never happened,” he said. “This would not have happened during my administration. In fact, some people were saying, why didn’t this take place over the past four years during my administration? And it didn’t for a very good reason. I’ll explain that to you someday. But it wouldn’t have taken place, and it wouldn’t have taken place right now. It’s a very sad thing for the world, the country, and it is certainly sad for a lot of people that are going to be needlessly killed.”
Update: the Ukranian government's said at least 40 soldiers and a child were killed in the Russian attacks.
