Likud leader may open an English-language blog soon

Benjamin Netanyahu may be the first prominent Israeli politician to open his own blog. The following from INN is a translation of one of his statements there:
Likud Chairman Binyamin Netanyahu had harsh words for the government in a statement Wednesday on his new Hebrew-language blog.

The former Prime Minister outlined an itemized response he demands from the Olmert government to the incessant rocket attacks from Gaza against Israel.

“The rocket fire aimed at Sderot has become routine in the past few weeks since the government agreed to the ceasefire,” wrote Netanyahu. “More than 50 rockets have been launched at Sderot since that imaginary truce and it has been a miracle that no one wounded until now... The expected has finally occurred [on Tuesday night]: people have been hurt.”
A spokesperson said he intends to start an English-language blog in the near future. I hope it'll be soon, because then, it'll be easier for English-language readers to read it too.

US State Dept. finally admits that Arafat murdered American officials

It's awfully late, but I suppose it's better late than never. WorldNetDaily has a report on the PLO's murder of American officials that's well worth reading:
WASHINGTON – After 33 years of secrecy, the U.S. State Department has finally declassified a document admitting it knew the late Yasser Arafat, chairman of the Palestine Liberation Organization, plotted and supervised the murders of two U.S. diplomats in Sudan in 1973, a cover-up first exposed by WND in January 2001.

The document, released earlier this year, with no fanfare, makes it clear the Khartoum operation "was planned and carried out with the full knowledge and personal approval" of Arafat, a frequent visitor to the White House throughout the 1990s who died in 2004.

In the attack March 1, 1973, eight members of the Black September terrorist organization, part of Arafat's Fatah faction of the PLO, stormed the Saudi embassy in Khartoum on Arafat's orders, taking U.S. Ambassador Cleo Noel, diplomat Charge d'Affaires George Curtis Moore and others hostage, and one day later, killing Noel, Moore and Belgian diplomat Guy Eid.

The admission comes 33 years after James J. Welsh, then the National Security Agency's Palestinian analyst, saw a communication intercepted from Arafat to his terrorist commandos in Sudan.

Within minutes, Welsh told WND, the director of the NSA was notified and the decision was made to send a rare "FLASH" message – the highest priority – to the U.S. Embassy in Khartoum via the State Department.

But the message didn't reach the embassy in time. Somewhere between the NSA and the State Department, someone decided the warning was too vague. The alert was downgraded in urgency.

The next day, eight members of Black September, part of Arafat's Fatah organization, stormed the Saudi embassy in Khartoum, took Noel, Moore and others hostage. A day later, on March 2, 1973, Noel, Moore and Eid were machine-gunned to death – all, Welsh had insisted for years, on the direct orders of Arafat.

[...]

Welsh believes the initial cover-up of the communications breakdown and the role of Arafat was launched to prevent embarrassment to the State Department and White House. President Nixon, he points out, was in the death throes of the Watergate scandal at the time. The last thing he needed, Welsh speculates, was an international scandal to deal with on the front page of the Washington Post.

Later, after Nixon was gone, Welsh believes the whole matter of the Arafat tapes was kept quiet to protect the future viability of signals intelligence intercepts of this kind. And, finally, he said, the cover-up persisted to foster Arafat's role as a "peacemaker" and leader of the Palestinian cause.
As this may suggest, Nixon's administration covered this up and did not do anything to bring the PLO to justice. They did not outlaw the PLO, as they should have, and that, you might say, was one of the biggest mistakes Tricky Dicky's administration made.

It's good that this is finally coming to light, and I might note that Mahmoud Abbas, as a PLO leader himself during that period, is also someone who should be brought to justice, since he too shares in the guilt.

Human Rights Watch clearly pre-determined their positions

Zombietime shows how Human Rights Watch is clearly biased in favor of the Hezbollah and other of Israel's enemies in a weak report they gave on the IAF supposedly targeting ambulances for the wrong reasons (Hat tip: Michelle Malkin). See also this entry and this one from Al-Hamatzav, which has some good questions to offer as well.

If I'm correct, is HRW an affiliate of Amnesty International? I'm not sure just now, but in any case, they're just as worthless.

At last! The tyrant is dead

Saddam has finally been hung, and the authorities in Iraq did the right thing to carry out his execution ASAP. Here's the report from FOX News, and I see that he maintained his Muslim identity to the very end:
BAGHDAD, Iraq — Saddam Hussein, among the world's most brutal dictators, struggled briefly after American military guards handed him over to Iraqi executioners. But as his final moments approached, he grew calm. Dressed in a black coat and trousers, he clutched a Koran as he was led to the gallows, and in one final moment of defiance, refused to have a hood pulled over his head.

After a quarter-century of remorseless brutality that killed countless thousands and led Iraq into disastrous wars against the United States and Iran, Saddam was executed before sunrise Saturday.
Clearly, he was loyal to the Koran to the very end, wasn't he? Clearly, he was loyal to jihad. So again, what's this that the MSM was saying about Saddam being "secular"? Please. He was anything but that.

Saddam's execution should serve as an important message to any tyrannical Islamic fiends around the world that this is the fate coming to them as well for any crimes they pull against innocent people. Thus, it is good that the execution was carried out, as that's what needs to be done with just about any savage tyrant of Saddam's standing.

Note though those cretins who dare mourn the tyrant's death, and they include...the paleswinians! (Hat tip: Meryl Yourish.)
The execution of former Iraqi president Saddam Hussein sent many Palestinians into deep mourning Saturday as they struggled to come to terms with the demise of perhaps their most steadfast ally.

Unlike much of the rest of the world, where Saddam was viewed as a brutal dictator who oppressed his people and started regional wars, in the West Bank and Gaza he was seen as a generous benefactor unafraid to fight for the Palestinian cause - even to the end.

Purportedly, Saddam's final words were, "Palestine is Arab."

"We heard of his martyrdom, and I swear to God we were deeply shaken from within," said Khadejeh Ahmad from the Qadora refugee camp in the West Bank. "Nobody was as supportive or stood with the Palestinians as he did."

During the first Gulf War in 1991, the Palestinians cheered Saddam's missile attacks on Israel, chanting "Beloved Saddam, strike Tel Aviv," as the Scud missiles flew overhead.

Funding the cause
Saddam further endeared himself to the Palestinians during the recent intifada with Israel by giving USD 25,000 to the family of each suicide bomber and USD 10,000 for each Palestinian killed in fighting. The stipends amounted to an estimated USD 35 million.
Now you see why the paleswinians are not worth supporting, because, not only did they support tyranny, they received support in return from the very tyrant who was rightfully sent to hell this very day. They deserve nothing but scorn.

More veil insanity, as robbers become inspired to wear it too

This could be another reason to ban the burka:
The Jewellers’ Association of Maharashtra has now asked the police to bar customers wearing veils from entering shops.

"There is a rise in the number of robberies in which veiled customers were involved. In a year, eight to nine such incidents are reported. There is a possibility of two to three veiled gangs operating in the city,” Fatechand Ranka, president of the Jewellers’ Association in Pune was quoted by news agency PTI as saying.

"Due to the veils, these customers cannot be identified by us or police. So we have taken a decision not to allow veiled customers in the shops. And for that, the Association has sought permission in a letter to the state home ministry, state police chief and city police commissioner,” he added.
And in England, there too, they seem to have similar problems:
An armed gang wearing burka headdresses escaped with jewellery after a raid on a shop in Halifax.

The three raiders - whose faces were covered by the religious gowns - entered the jewellers in Queen’s Road, Pellon, at 1100 GMT on Monday, asked
to view some gems and then produced a gun …

At least two of the raiders, who fled in a car, are believed to be male.
Where will the madness go next?

A phony hate crime intended to smear conservatives

It seems that gays and lesbians who go out of their way to wallow in victimology must consider conservatives an easy target, not to mention the bane for all their problems. From the Arbiter Online (via Stop the ACLU):
Boise Police recently said the Boise State University student leader who claimed he was attacked because of his sexual orientation confessed to detectives he fabricated the report.

Investigators said the student admitted using a stick and his fists to self-inflict his injuries and that other evidence connected to his initial report had also been fabricated.

Police spokeswoman Lynn Hightower said the student’s confession of a false report is consistent with evidence uncovered by detectives during their investigation.

“Boise Police expended many valuable resources investigating the initial report. When competed, the investigation on filing a false report will be forwarded to prosecutors for possible charges,” Hightower said. “Filing a false police report is a misdemeanor with a penalty of up to a year in jail and a $1,000 fine.”

The student claimed last week a white male struck him from behind with an object while using anti-gay expletives and proceeded to hit him in the face several times, causing him to lose consciousness.

[...]

The falsified attack quickly prompted student and administrative organizations around Boise State to sponsor a “No Oppression Tolerated, Not On Our Campus,” rally last Tuesday and a candlelight vigil Wednesday night in the Quad.

[...]

Shortly after his confession to police, the student sent out e-mails to members of the media asking they not give the incident any more attention, saying he “wanted it to go away.”

[...]

“It is a relief to know that this assault did not take place on the Greenbelt near campus.”
True, but it's still a real shame that this has to happen, and conservatives are smeared for supposedly being violent. Ironically, it would seem as though most homosexuals do not consider Islam to be a problem.

Because conservatives don't have the kind of hatred that liberals want to believe they do, so they have to contrive it many times. And it looks like the purpose here was to smear an active group of conservatives on the campus, another clue to how moonbats seem to be making a big fuss over nothing - a university. Who cares just who "runs" a varsity? Considering that most of these students won't even be learning there after awhile, and won't even give a damn about it in later years, why should they worry what beliefs are expressed there? I think that making a fuss over even a varsity is a waste of time.

Civil war coming between Fatah and Hamas

Youssef Ibrahim writes in the NY Sun that a civil war is likely to happen, Muslim vs. Muslim, and Fatah vs. Hamas:
This year has been momentous for the Middle East, but 2007 is going to be dramatic.

In the Gaza Strip and West Bank, a full-scale factional war will erupt among the Palestinian Arabs, with unpredictable consequences.

This time around, the "brotherhood" is over.

Fatah, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and other assorted mafias will participate, while outside sponsors such as Iran, Syria, and Jordan will supply the bullets, rockets, money, and ill-will.
That's one more reason why sanctions must be declared against them, and Fatah, just like Hamas, must be outlawed.

Ethiopia deserves much praise for their courageous takedown of Muslim terrorists in Somalia

Bill Roggio (via Hot Air) reports that Ethiopia has routed the Mogadishu. As Bryan says here:
There should be no allowance for any cease-fire talks until the Islamists are well and truly crushed. Keep the UN and the Arab League as far from this fight as possible until it’s truly finished. The Ethiopians and the transitional Somali government forces, fighting together against the Islamists in spite of a history of war between Ethiopia and Somalia, should not make the same mistake Israel and the US have made in Lebanon and Iraq and Afghanistan. They should win the fight outright and dictate terms to the surviving Islamists. Foreign fighters should either be imprisoned and tried for their crimes or, well, imprisoned and tried for their crimes. Anything less, and the Islamists will go to ground and come back with an insurgency in a few months or a year.
Absolutely correct. Ethiopia needs to set an important example in the fight against Islamofascism by bringing down the Mogadishu right to the last one. They need to effectively wipe out the entire terrorist gang.

Bryan also says:
In fact, there’s nothing to guarantee that that won’t happen even if the Islamists accept their position and surrender outright. But a real and clear defeat for them and the demonstration of Ethiopia’s resolve will make an insurgency more difficult to mount and might dry up support from Iran and elsewhere. It might also put a dent in the plans fellow Islamists are laying for Israel in Gaza, to see their brethren rejected and defeated on the ground of Black Hawk Down.
An interesting observation there, one more reason why this operation must be completed. Keep any negative movements out of this!

France is on high terror alert

Assuming that bad president Chirac ever thought that staying out of Iraq would keep the 5th Republic safe from the Islamists, well, he's wrong. It's got nothing to do with whether you're against Islamofascism or not. It's only got what to do with if you're considered inferior to Islam that does. And that's what the al Qaeda considers France to be. From Eursoc (via Hot Air):
The head of France's interior ministry terror unit says that three terrorist attacks have been scuppered by his department in the past 18 months. Targets are reported to have included the Paris Metro underground network and Orly, one of Paris' two major airports.

Christophe Chaboud told the International Herald Tribune that the plots - first uncovered in September 2005 - are thought to be linked to next Spring's presidential election. Security around prominent campaigners, including interior minister Nicolas Sarkozy and Socialist Party contender Ségolène Royal has been stepped up following the threats.

Senior security forces sources believe jihadi terrorists with experience of fighting western forces in Iraq have been involved in the plots. They follow an Algerian terror group which considers Paris its major target joining forces with international al-Qaeda elements who have declared war on "Crusaders" whether American, British or French. France's banning of the Islamic headscarf in schools is thought to have added to anti-French feeling among Islamists (a senior Iranian cleric also issued a fatwa against France when the ban came into law).
Believe me, even if they didn't ban the burka in schools, they'd still hate the French, because that's what all followers of Islam are taught to do, hate the dhimmis.
The terror group, Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat (GSPC), "pledged allegiance" to Osama bin Laden in 2003. Members are thought to be active in Spain, Italy and across North Africa, as well as France.

76 people have been arrested since June 2005 in connection with GSPC plots. Eleven were arrested in one sweep in September 2005 in connection with the two plots above and a further alleged planned attack on the headquarters of France's anti-terror unit.
Salafists are some of the worst Islamofascists to be found on earth. They are as dangerous as can be.

ABC's Blotter says that an attack on France could likely take place in the next coming weeks, so a full alert is definitely neccasary.

Star Tribune is worst, most PC newspaper in America?

According to the American Thinker, McClatchy, which recently bought out Knight-Ridder, which had been one of the worst newspaper chains in the US, is now selling the Minneapolis Star Tribune to another owner, Avista Capital Partners.

That's kinda surprising to know, considering that one of their columnists wrote a splendid debunking of the flying imams at the airport there. But then, I wouldn't be surprised if there were only a few gems at that newspaper in a whole sea of duds. So, I won't shed too many tears for McClatchy over their losses.

Much too late

Thanks to Ehud Olmert's policy of "restraint" in the face of terrorism, two boys in Sderot were wounded by kassam rocket shrapnel yesterday. Olmert is going to hold a discussion on the matter today, but it's much too late.

Now I don't think much of Amir Peretz, but, he's certainly right when he says that we shouldn't gamble with the lives of citizens in Sderot, where he's also a resident. In that case, maybe he should think about leaving the government in protest if Olmert is going to undermine as he's been for some time now.

Ethiopia bombs jihadists in Somalia

While it's good that they're slaying scum, they may be working on it while facing opposition. From the New York Times (Hat tip: Hot Air):
Though western diplomats had been urging Ethiopia to use restraint, Ethiopia’s attacks today did not come as a surprise. The question now seems to be if Ethiopia will go into Mogadishu and try to finish off the Islamist military, which many fear could spur a long and ugly insurgency, or simply deal them enough of a blow to force them back to the negotiating table with the transitional government. Ethiopia’s prime minister recently told American officials that he could wipe out the Islamists “in one to two weeks.”

What complicates the issue is the presence of other foreign troops inside Somalia and the rising potential for Somalia’s neighbors to be dragged in. United Nations officials estimate that there are several thousand soldiers from Eritrea, Ethiopia’s arch-enemy, fighting for the Islamists, along with a growing number of Muslim mercenaries from Yemen, Egypt, Syria and Libya who want to turn Somalia into the third front of jihad, after Iraq and Afghanistan. On Friday, residents of Mogadishu said they saw boatloads of armed men landing on the city’s beaches.
Either Ethiopia is facing opposition, or, the NYT would like it to be that way. Regardless, they should not be deterred or perturbed by any moonbat opposition to doing justice.

Here's a map of Africa you can take a look at too, to see what countries surround Ethiopia.

The Chunnel has become the next terror target

I once wondered if the al Qaeda would plot to target the Chunnel. Turns out my questions were right. From the UK Observer (via Jihad Watch):
The Channel tunnel has been targeted by a group of Islamic militant terrorists aiming to cause maximum carnage during the holiday season, according to French and American secret services.

The plan, which the French DGSE foreign intelligence service became aware of earlier this year, is revealed in a secret report to the French government on threat levels. The report, dated December 19, indicates that the tip-off came from the American CIA. British and French intelligence agencies have run a series of checks of the security system protecting the 31-mile tunnel but the threat level, the DGSE warns, remains high. British security services remain on high alert throughout the holiday period.

According to the French sources, the plan was put together in Pakistan and is being directed from there. The plotters are believed to be Western Europeans, possibly Britons of Pakistani descent. The DGSE say that levels of 'chatter', the constant communication that takes place between militants, has not been so high since 2001. Last week Sir Ian Blair, the head of the Metropolitan Police, described 'the threat of another terrorist attempt' as 'ever present' adding that 'Christmas is a period when that might happen'.
I wonder if the British authorities ever considered that, because of the anti-western propaganda their country's media were spewing out all these years, that they might have led to this danger. It's to be hoped that the threat can be prevented.

The French authorities are certainly way ahead of them, and Nicholas Sarkozy deserves credit for his revoking the security passes of Muslims working in the Roissy airport.

Update on Al-Durah Affair: there was a case won by the good guys

There is good news regarding the Al-Durah case, as told in this article on Media Ratings, which I'll translate:
Al Doura Affair: first defeat for the Enderlin-France 2 team, which will probably not be the last...

Posted online December 1, 2006

On October 19, 2006, Media-Ratings was condemned for slander against France 2 and Charles Enderlin. We obviously called this court decision “astonishing”.

On November 28, 2006, the libel suit of France2 and Charles Enderlin against Pierre Lurçat was found to be unfounded. He was admirably defended by David Dassa Deist (dassavocat@yahoo.fr).

Curiously, this defeat of the public utility [France2] was mentioned in no French media whereas our judgment had been widely covered. This Thursday November 30, 2006, the third lawsuit brought by the Enderlin-France 2 team, within the framework of the Al Doura Affair, took place.

This time, it was a physician who was sued for slander for having reproduced on his site – desinfos.com – a dispatch from the MENA [Metulla News Agency].

The plaintiffs were represented by their lawyer, Bénédicte Amblard, whose attacks were cut in pieces by the demands of the Procureur and the remarkable advocacy of Aude Weill-Raynal.

France2 did not provide the 27 minutes of footage which are supposed to prove the network's version.

Charles Enderlin was not present in court whereas he had been in Paris the day before the trial (France-Inter with 16h30, RTL with 18h). It is true that it's less risky for him to express himself in the obliging media than within the courtroom.

The absences of Charles Enderlin and 27 minutes of rushes were missed, so much by the Procureur who demanded their release, as well as by the by the lawyer for the defendant.

The judgement will be given on January 18, 2007. Taking into account the content of the debates, demands by the Procureur and pleadings of the lawyers, there is no doubt that the Court will release the director of the publication of desinfos.com.
Enderlin must be starting to realize he's done himself more harm than good. He's only brought attention to himself!

Kassam rockets continue to smash Negev

No sooner do Ehud Olmert and Mahmoud Abbas have an appeasement meeting, more rockets are fired at the Negev:
Palestinian terrorists have fired an average of two Kassams each day since the ceasefire went into effect - usually while children are going to school. MK Eldad: Olmert is a collaborator.

[...]

Over the Sabbath weekend, three rockets were fired towards Sderot and the Negev, causing extensive damage to a bank and apartment building. One person was lightly hurt by shrapnel, and five were treated for shock.

[...]

Alon Shuster, head of the Shaar HaNegev Regional Council, sharply attacked the government's inaction. "The escalation is expected any minute, yet the government is detached from reality and is leaving thousands of residents without protection," he said.

[...]

Residents in Sderot reacted with outrage to Olmert's gift last night of $100 million in tax revenues to Abu Mazen. "It would be more appropriate for the Prime Minister to rebuild trust with the residents of Sderot and the Negev than to give presents to terrorists in Gaza," said Alon Davidi, the head of the local Sderot struggle committee, told the NRG website.
Or better yet, he could simply show some honesty by resigning, and showing that recognizes that he's failed.

Target department stores sold Che merchandise

But fortunately, they're taking it off the shelves now (Hat tip: Michelle Malkin):
Target Corp said on Friday it had pulled a CD carrying case bearing Ernesto "Che" Guevara's image after an outcry by critics who label the Marxist revolutionary a murderer and totalitarian symbol.

Target had touted a music disc carrying case for Che admirers emblazoned with the Argentine-born guerrilla's iconic 1960 portrait by Alberto Diaz, or "Korda." A set of small earphones was superimposed on the image, suggesting he was tuned in to an iPod or other music player.

"It is never our intent to offend any of our guests through the merchandise we carry," Target said in a statement. "We have made the decision to remove this item from our shelves and we sincerely apologize for any discomfort this situation may have caused our guests."
What I don't understand is how they couldn't have avoided this whole debacle in the first place. Is it not obvious, if anything, that Che was a Communist cretin? Isn't that enough to tell that selling merchandise with his image is in bad form?

Investor's Business Daily broke the news recently in one of their editorials. They should also focus on Wal-Mart, which has been selling neo-nazi t-shirts in some of their stores, and these are much more offensive.

Egypt continues to show its hostility towards Israel

Now, as David Bedein reports in The Bulletin, they want Israel to give up Eilat:
It will be remembered that the 1967 Six-Day War broke out after Egypt closed the straits of Tiran and strangled the trade from Israel's southern port city of Eliat.
Yet few are aware that Egypt has staked a claim to the city of Eilat, ever since it lost Eilat to the nascent state of Israel in the wake of the Egyptian army's defeat in the 1948 war, followed by the expulsion of the Egyptians from this southern port city on the Red Sea.

Now, in the wake of recent reports about plans to dig a canal linking the Red Sea on the Israeli side and the Dead Sea on its Jordanian side, a fiery argument broke out in Egypts parliament, with the members of parliament (MPs) speaking out against the "Israeli plot to choke the Suez Canal to death."

In the course of the debate, which has been going on in parliament for the last two days, Abed el-Aziz Sayef a-Nasser, an aide to the Egyptian foreign minister, was called as an expert witness. A-Nasser is the director of the Egyptian Foreign Ministry's legal department.

"Eilat, or by its former name Umm Rashrash, belongs to the Palestinians," he said, representing the opinion of the Egyptian Foreign Ministry.

[...]

Significantly, in the debate among the Egyptian MPs, the experts and the Foreign Ministry officials, no mention is made of possible legitimate Israeli sovereignty of Eilat. The debate in Cairo is between two camps: the Egyptian Foreign Ministry which claims that Eilat belongs to the Palestinians, and the opposition MPs who claim that Eilat belongs to Egypt.
It belongs to neither, and lest we forget that "palestinians" didn't exist until recently, as early as the late 1960s. I think this pretty much shows that Egypt is slowly on its way to returning to its hostile ways again, more clearly than in past years.

Sandy Berger hid the documents he stole under...a construction trailer?!?

Sounds bizarre, right? At least, that's where he says he hid them:
WASHINGTON (AP) - Former national security adviser Sandy Berger removed classified documents from the National Archives in 2003 and hid them under a construction trailer, the Archives inspector general reported Wednesday.

The report was issued more than a year after Berger pleaded guilty and received a criminal sentence for removal of the documents.

Inspector General Paul Brachfeld reported that when Berger was confronted by Archives officials about the missing documents, he said it was possible he threw them in his office trash.

The report said that when Archives employees first suspected that Berger - who had been President Clinton's national security adviser - was removing classified documents from the Archives in the fall of 2003, they failed to notify any law enforcement agency.

Berger, who pleaded guilty to unlawfully removing and retaining classified documents, was fined $50,000, ordered to perform 100 hours of community service and was barred from access to classified material for three years.

The report said that when Berger was reviewing the classified documents in the Archives building a few blocks from the Capitol, employees saw him bending down and fiddling with something white, which could have been paper, around his ankle.

However, Archives employees did not feel at the time there was enough information to confront someone of Berger's stature, the report said.

Brachfeld reported that on one visit, Berger took a break to go outside without an escort.

"In total, during this visit, he removed four documents ... .

"Mr. Berger said he placed the documents under a trailer in an accessible construction area outside Archives 1 (the main Archives building)."

Berger acknowledged that he later retrieved the documents from the construction area and returned with them to his office.

Berger, with the authorization of former President Clinton, was reviewing National Security Council documents on Osama bin Laden and al-Qaida, Sudan, and related presidential correspondence. The review was to facilitate Berger's impending testimony before the House and Senate intelligence committees.
Berger has done a grave disservice to the US. He should be throughly ashamed of himself.

If the Israeli government were to speak up, the al-Durah case could be solved more easily

Nidra Poller talks about the blood libel of Charles Enderlin, the Jerusalem correspondent of France2 TV, against Israel and against any critics who dare to speak the truth about his fabrications. She's understandably angry about it.

On a related note, another local blogger in Israel told me he'd met Philippe Karsenty, one of the heads of Media Ratings, a French media watchdog site, at a bloggers conference in Herzliya earlier this week. Karsenty was sued by France2 (a state TV broadcaster), and Enderlin, for charging that the al-Durah case was a hoax, and that Enderlin should be removed. Karsenty lost the suit. He's now appealing the decision. He said that, if the Israeli government were to either make it clear that the al-Durah footage is faked, or demand that they release the whole recordings taken, then that could help to get to the bottom of this case more easily.

The problem is that, when you have a do-nothing government like what Ehud Olmert's really is, then you can't really expect anything of the sort. Until the whole case can dealt with though, here's what I recommend: write to France2's e-mail/letters department. First, go to the main page of their site, then click the javascript link at the top that says "contacter France2". On the page that opens, press one of the two options on the left (vos opinions, or vos autre questions) And what to tell them when you write can be that - it doesn't matter whether the court is on Enderlin's side, if France2 doesn't release the extra footage in its entirety, then we don't believe your whole al-Durah tale.

Enderlin may not realize it, but, he's practically getting himself more attention than he may actually want, and the more he keeps on with with his useless charade, the more he's really discrediting and embarrassing himself and France2.

Four Hamas "lawmakers" in Jerusalem lose residential status

Some good news from the Jerusalem Post:
Interior Ministry Roni Bar-On stripped three Hamas legislators and a Hamas minister of their Israeli residency status, even though they live in east Jerusalem, because they refused to resign from their political posts, the state told the High Court of Justice on Wednesday.

The statement came in the context of the state's reply to a petition submitted by the four Hamas representatives demanding that their status as Israeli residents be reinstated. The four were legislators Muhammad Abu Tir, Ahmed Abu Atoun and Khaled Abu Arafa, as well as Minister for Jerusalem Affairs in the Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Tota.

From the moment their residency status was withdrawn, the four residents automatically became "illegal sojourners" who could be expelled from the city. However, on June 29, three of the four were arrested and jailed along with dozens of other Hamas legislators, PA ministers and activists living in the West Bank, following the kidnapping of Cpl. Gilad Shalit.
Those Hamas fiends should be kicked out of Israel altogether. I think Abu Tir is the one with the red hair, even the beard. If you think it looks bizarre, you're quite right; it most certainly does.

And now, look what Britain's ignorance hath wrought

This is no joke. A Somali Muslim who murdered a policewoman in Britain fled the country disguised with a veil (Hat tip: Michelle Malkin):
A man who was being hunted for the murder of a policewoman is understood to have escaped from Britain by disguising himself as a veiled Muslim woman.

Mustaf Jama, a prime suspect in the fatal shooting of PC Sharon Beshenivsky, assumed his sister’s identity - wearing the niqab and using her passport - to evade supposedly stringent checks at Heathrow, according to police sources.

The use of the niqab, which leaves only a narrow slit for the eyes, highlights flaws in British airport security. At the time, Jama was Britain’s most wanted man, while Heathrow was on a heightened state of alert after the 7/7 terrorist atrocities in London five months previously.

The Times has learnt that British immigration officers rarely carry out a visual check to match a passport photograph with a departing female passenger’s veiled face.

Details of Jama’s disguise emerged yesterday as his younger brother, Yusuf, awaited a life sentence for the murder of the police officer, who died during an armed robbery at a Bradford travel agency in November last year.

Detectives believe that Jama, 26, was allowed to board an international flight from Heathrow because no attempt was made to uncover his face. While British baggage security is among the strictest in the world, the system of identity checks is considered less rigorous than in countries such as France.
That's right, and the same paper may have spoken about it too, about how in France, by contrast, identity checks are much more responsible, and Muslim women with veils must also undergo ID checks.

But even if British authorities finally take the necessary steps to make serious ID inspections, it's still awfully late, and may in fact be too late to capture the murderer. They've done a grave disservice to a woman who died in the line of duty.

Update: according to this report from the Times (via IRIS Blog), another member of Jama's gang said "don't make me kill you on a Friday", a reference to the Muslim holy day. They also seemed to have put out quite a lot of hate music.

Update 2: Melanie Phillips now has a column about this.

Just what we didn't need

Oh, wonderful. It seems that something's been taken out of context in Seattle, when a rabbi only asked if Hanuka menorahs could be added alongside Christmas trees at the Sea-Tac airport; he did not ask that the trees be removed. As this editorial by Robert Jacobs in the Seattle Times says:
Many residents of this community would like to put the Sea-Tac Airport Christmas-tree episode behind us. Unfortunately, for the Jewish community, a bad taste lingers. It is disconcerting — even a bit frightening — to see how much anti-Semitism lurked just below the surface in our community. Consider how quickly it came bubbling up, even though the Jewish community never asked for the Christmas trees to be removed from the airport.

[...]

How could people believe that a rabbi would find Christmas trees offensive when he asked to have a menorah placed with the trees? What was it about a request for a menorah to be displayed that led to such hate?
Following this, it seems that quite a few moonbats have exploited this for anti-Jewish attacks. Given that this is such a leftist city we're talking about here, it's all the more dismaying and unfortunate that this has happened, especially considering what IsraelInsider notes.

Mark Steyn talks about it this week in the Chicago Sun-Times. It's a real shame that this had to happen, because considering where Iran's going, we certainly don't need any more potential antisemitism flaring up.

DoS attack on Watching America and other websites

I got an e-mail from the webmasters of Watching America informing that the website has been under a DoS attack:
Dear Fellow Bloggers and Aggregators,

Please excuse this mass mailing.

This is a polite note to let you know that the servers of www.WatchingAmerica.com's hosting company are under attack but we are still around and will be back up as soon as possible. We’d be most grateful if you could let your readers know, as we know some of your readers are also some of our readers, and we don’t want them to abandon us – or to think we have abandoned them!

In fact, many hosting companies servers are currently under a denial-of-service attack. This means that someone, somewhere, is overloading the servers with masses of information, slowing them right down, or causing them to grind to a halt. It is affecting numerous sites.

We’ve been down for two and a half days, but hundreds of technicians all over the US are trying to find its source and get us all back on our feet.

Thanks very, very much for your time and support.

Very best wishes,

Robin Koerner
Cofounder, Publisher
This certainly is serious, so be on the lookout for if any hackers are out there trying to commit a DoS attack.

Ban Ki-Moon: an improvement at the UN?

It could be that, while I still think the UN is a dinosaur that should be dissolved, there's still some improvement turning up in the person of Ban Ki-Moon, the new secretary-general. If there's something positive he's done so far, it's that he spoke out against Iran's holocaust denial horrors (H/T: Daled Amos):
Incoming United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon told Iran on Thursday it was unacceptable to deny that the Holocaust took place or to call for Israel to be wiped off the map.

Ban was responding to a question asked at a news conference about Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who since coming to power in August last year has caused an outcry by terming the Holocaust a "myth" and calling Israel a "tumor" in the Middle East.

[...]

"Denying historical facts especially on such an important subject as the Holocaust is just not acceptable," Ban said.

"Nor is it acceptable to call for the elimination of states or people," Ban said. "I would like to see this fundamental principle respected in both rhetoric and practice by all the members of the international community."
He still hasn't said anything about Iran's nuclear weapons activities, but the steps he's taken so far are certainly an improvement over Kofi Annan, who made his belated departure by blaming the United States for human rights abuses, yet never seems to have anything to say about the genocide in Rwanda and Darfur, if at all (H/T: Betsy's Page). I hope the investigation into Kofi's involvement in the oil-for-food scandal will be revived. The man must be punished for the atrocities he was involved in.

PLO and Hamas trade gunfire back and forth, to and fro

It should be clear that a civil war is indeed breaking out between the PLO and Hamas. For starters, a Hamas minister's convoy was attacked:
GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip - Gunmen attacked the convoy of the Palestinian foreign minister and raided a training base for an elite security forces unit Sunday, stepping up factional violence over a decision by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to end nine months of Hamas leadership and call early elections.

A 19-year-old woman and a Palestinian security officer were killed in the chaos, while at least 13 people were wounded in gun battles across Gaza City. In one symbolic attack, Abbas' empty residence came under fire. Militants also fired two mortar shells at Abbas' nearby offices.
And then, mortar shells were fired at Mahmoud Abbas' office:
GAZA (Reuters) - Gunmen fired two mortar bombs at Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas's office in Gaza on Sunday, wounding at least five members of his personal guard as tensions with the ruling Hamas movement threatened to boil over.

Foreign Minister Mahmoud al-Zahar, a senior Hamas leader, accused Abbas's forces of attempting a "military coup" in Gaza after they overran two ministries under the control of the Islamists. Zahar demanded the security men leave the ministries or else be arrested, a move that could provoke further violence.

"What is happening is a real military coup, assassinations, attempted assassinations, the occupation of headquarters and ministries," Zahar told a news conference.
No, what is happening is a terrorist gang war, between two Islamic terror gangs, both of them evil, and both of them power-hungry. It shouldn't be surprising that is where things led to, and now, they're both at each others throats.

Just look at what smut the school libraries are stocking today

Leading reason why not to send your children to a government school (Hat tip: Michelle Malkin and Moonbattery):
Sixth-graders at a Queens school were getting quite an education - in homosexuality, French kissing and cursing - thanks to three books widely available in classroom libraries.

But after numerous complaints from parents at Public School 150 in Sunnyside, the books - a profanity-laced poetry book, short stories about homosexuality and a novel called "First French Kiss" - were pulled from the shelves last week.

Several parents learned of the racy books after overhearing their kids snickering about the sexual themes.

The poem "I Hate School" in a book called "You Hear Me?" includes the rhyme, "F--- this s---, up the a--. I don't think I'll ever pass."

Another poem compares eating an orange to having sex, while several passages repeatedly use vulgar slang for genitalia. And the book "Am I Blue?" is an anthology of stories about gay teenagers that parents found too adult-themed for 11- and 12-year-olds.

Parent Gladys Martinez wrote a letter to her son's teacher after hearing him talk about "First French Kiss," which chronicles a teen's bumbling first makeout session in a closet.
Perhaps I could excuse the French kissing, but most definately NOT the homosexuality and cursing. No wonder so many children end up going insane. Because they're being taught to embrace the abnormal, pure and simple.

Don't count on Tony Blair really meaning what he says

Tony Blair may have renounced multiculturalism earlier this week, but the problem is that that's about all he's really done so far. Robert Spencer talks about it now on Hot Air.

Frankly, I'm not waiting up, seeing how, as Dawn reports, British schools are now receiving guides to Islam containing all those religious items that Islamists use (Hat tip: Dhimmi Watch).
LONDON, Dec.9: A guide to Islam is being given to primary schools across Britain containing a headscarf, a prayer mat, a prayer cap, sacred Ihram clothing worn during the pilgrimage to Makkah, a poster of the Muslim prophets and a compass to locate the direction of Makkah.

According to Daily Express the teaching resource, provided by the Muslim Council of Britain, is intended to provide children aged seven and 11 with information about true Islamic beliefs.

The pack, described on Friday by one head teacher as a "three-foot by three-foot plastic box", also contains CDs, videos, children's books and pamphlets and model kits of a mosque and Islam's holiest site, the Ka'bah.

Sir Iqbal Sacranie, of the MCB, said: "We believe education is the key to creating a vibrant and understanding society.

"We want to ensure that every schoolchild has access to high quality Islamic resources in their schools." Colin Manning, head teacher of North Reddish Junior School in Stockport, which has only four Muslim pupils, said: "The future is in the hands of young people.

The better they understand each other, the more secure that future will be." Tahir Alam, education spokesman for the MCB, added: "We found that schools were using books that were not accurate about Muslim traditions and beliefs so we put this pack together.

"We now have over 800 schools using them."
As far as I know, Blair's government hasn't done anything about it, so how can we possibly count on him meaning what he says? Only if he curtails this black marketing in Britain's school system can we be really convinced.

Yes, Syria is dangerous

Debka reports that Syria is expanding its missile manufacturing:
DEBKAfile’s military sources quote two statements by Israeli generals Sunday, Dec. 10 to the Israeli cabinet: OC Northern Command Maj.-Gen Gadi Eisenkott denounced as irresponsible talk of a war with Syria and Hizballah in the summer of 2007.

Brig. Gen Yossi Baidatz, military intelligence chief of research, reported that Syria had increased its production of long-range missiles (picture) and was building up its anti-tank rocket units on the Golan border with Israel.

This information is not proof in itself of a Syrian intent to go to war. Gen. Eisenkott says he sees no tangible war preparations on the Golan and Hermon despite the aggressive rhetoric coming out of Damascus, whereas it is Brig Baidatz’s job to count the missiles coming off Syrian production lines in the northern city of Homs. The volume in Nov. 2006 was 20% greater than the output of Nov. 2005.

The key question neither Israeli officer answers is this: How many missiles are destined for Syrian use and how many for the strategic reserve Iran is stocking in Syria. According to DEBKAfile’s military sources, Syria’s missile output is not determined by the heads of its military industry, but by the Iranian Revolutionary Guards sitting on the industry’s executive boards and incoming investment funds regulated by Tehran.

All the departments of Syrian’s military industry merged last year with Iran’s manufacturing complex and are run as a single corporation. Therefore, it may be said that it is very much up to Tehran to determine if and when Bashar Asad goes on the offensive on the Golan front.

Asad is not obliged to dance to Tehran’s tune. He can decide he no longer wishes to coordinate his military and diplomatic strategies with Tehran. This would mean the breakup of the close Damascus-Tehran alliance. For the moment, there is no sign of any breach. Quite the reverse; intelligence data indicate a tightening of the partnership on all shared fronts.

This again is no proof that the widely-predicted summer 2007 war is inevitable. It does mean that Tehran means to hold on to Syria, Hizballah and Hamas as proxy whips against the Americans in Iraq and Israel until such time as its clerical rulers find a war move expedient.
They may not go to war today, but that doesn't mean they won't go to war tomorrow. It's clear if anything, that the Syrian dictatorship is still as plagued with jihad as can be.

Olmert's big mouth

Ehud Olmert continues to show everybody just how stupid and incompetant he is. Whether or not Israel has nuclear weapons, what he blurted out could be as harmful to Israel as the New York Times' tippings to terrorists could be to America. Here's more from the Jerusalem Post on this latest blunder of his (via Yid with Lid). He's already taken flak from local politicians as well, and rightfully so.

He needs to be replaced, and soon.

US Airways should say no to pressure from flying imams

The imams who intimidated passengers at Minneapolis' airport have been trying - get this - to reach an out of court settlement with US Airways over their removal, which was doubtless what they were hoping for so they could then play victim. Debbie Schlussel has some contact info for the company, and I too would strongly recommend calling to tell them not to give in to those villains. It was all a setup, intended to try and lead to weakening airline security, and it's imams themselves who owe some money in fines to the airport for disturbing the peace. Another contact link can be found here.

The Wash. Times reports:
A group of Muslim imams is seeking an out-of-court settlement with US Airways, saying they should not have been removed from a Minnesota-to-Phoenix flight last month and were not behaving suspiciously.

Five of the six Islamic religious leaders have retained the Council on American-Islamic Relations for legal representation and are seeking a "mutually agreeable" resolution, said Nihad Awad, CAIR executive director.

US Airways scheduled a meeting with the imams on Dec. 4 to discuss the incident, but the men canceled it and hired the activist group to act as legal counsel.

"With the hopes of reaching an amicable resolution to this matter, we would like to take this opportunity to ask for a formal meeting with US Airways executives and legal counsel," said Arsalan Iftikhar, CAIR's national legal director, in a letter to the airline. The imams represented by CAIR include Omar Shahin, Didmar Faja, Ahmad Shqeirat, Marwan Sadeddin and Mohamed Ibrahim.
Clearly, this is greivance-mongering on their part, as they lie and pretend they didn't act suspiciously. And you can be sure they they've got quite a lot of contempt for the passengers as well, not willing to accept the passengers' standing up to them as well through their support for the authorities removing the bozos from the plane.

Another reason why these imams cannot be allowed to have their way is because of cave-ins that took place previously. Read this item here (via Michelle Malkin) on how, thanks to government bureaucrats who were willing to support them, including the Dept. of Transportation, grievance-mongers prior to this won money settlements over supposed discrimination from American Airlines and Continental. This sort of kowtowing has to cease. Especially considering that the imams have a lot more terror ties than previously reported, as Katherine Kersten at the Star Tribune discovers. Read it all to know just what kind of things they were doing. Update: here's another column by Kersten in which she figures that the imams' stunt was a ploy to get an anti-profiling bill passed. Makes sense.

Richard Minitier at the NY Post (via Betsy's Page) has more.

Australia takes its own path

And wisely so. Last week, Labor leader Kevin Rudd and prime minister John Howard had an exchange in which Howard made it clear why Australia needs to take its own path politically (Hat tip: Tim Blair):
Mr HOWARD: When I make decisions on climate change and the Kyoto protocol, I do not speak for a particular political philosophy; I speak for my country. And it is in my country’s interests not to go down the European path. What the Leader of the Opposition has done with that question is reveal the Labor Party’s thinking on this issue. It is European-based thinking, because he quoted countries whose economies are fundamentally different to Australia’s economy. If I applied a British solution to an Australian problem in relation to climate change, I would be doing great injury to my country. I have absolutely no intention of doing that.
Good thinking. That's something that Canada needs to make clear too, that the British way is not a healthy path for them to take, certainly not politically.

By the European path, I think Howard means the European Union. Given how their policies have ruined the continent, he's quite right that they shouldn't have to go the way Europe's been forced to go.

Something that France needs to do too

Because they're the ones who invented the bikini in the post-WW2 years, as a symbol of liberation from the oppression of tyranny. Woman in Australia are going to take to the streets in a bikini march to protest the imam thugs who called unveiled women "uncovered meat" (Hat tip: Michelle Malkin and Ace of Spades HQ). The organizer is the Melbourne grandmother Christine Hawkins, and here's an interview with her from ABC-TV from down under. She says:
CHRISTINE HAWKINS: We're actually going to be calling on the Government to bring in new citizenship legislation, so that extremists can be weeded out either coming into the country, or if they're here, get rid of them.

We don't need this in our country, we've got a beautiful country, people come from all over the world to settle in Australia because they want freedom.
Having visited France at least three times myself, I think the same applies for them as well, which is why a demand should be made for new legislation be made to ensure that the Islamists trying to destroy the country there too can be moved out.

FBI thwarts terror attack planned in Chicago

And it seems that the jihadist who was arrested planned the attack using hand grenades that he could detonate in garbage cans. From CBS2 Chicago (via Hot Air):
(CBS) CHICAGO A 22-year-old Rockford man with an ambition to become a terrorist has been arrested by federal authorities on allegations that he planned to set off grenades in garbage cans in a mall in Rockford.

Derrick Shareef, of Rockford, was arrested on Wednesday by FBI agents from the Chicago Joint Terrorism Task Force, the U.S. Attorney's office said.

He was arraigned on the charges early Friday afternoon before U.S. Magistrate Judge Maria Valdez.

Shareef was apprehended after meeting with an undercover agent in a Rockford store parking lot to trade a set of stereo speaksers for four hand grenades and a handgun, the U.S. Attorney's office said.
Read the rest. It's clear that the threat of terrorist attacks in the US is still quite real. The suspect is a convert to Islam and was influenced by jihadist websites, and it appears that he even made a videotaped will of himself in anticipation of martyrdom.

Stupid comment by a selfish bozo

Some jerk whose screen is "Eudaimo", who once tried arguing and then turned to trolling, left this comment on my Comic Dossiers blog:
I doubt this will be responded to, but why does this blog exist? It's so obviously some sort of trick that multiple people (myself included) have pointed out that it must be a joke (no response has been made).

Weirder is the fact that it continues at all. It's not a particularly popular site in the comics blogosphere...it's actually relatively ignored.

What end does this seeming social experiment pursue?
I've since redacted the comment from the blog itself, as any asinine statements will obliterated almost instantly. Of course no response will be made. There is no need to. Anyone who acts as if they have the right to trespass like that on my premises gets their comments deleted without further notice.

And to answer the jihaditroll's claim that it's not a particularly popular site in the comics blogosphere - I should worry? I never expected it to garner much traffic 24 hours a day, mainly because I don't update it that often.

Now shut up and do your homework like a mensch, dum-dum.

Jeanne Kirkpatrick, RIP

The former UN ambassador who spoke against the blame-America mentality constant at the UN has passed away (H/T: Michelle Malkin and The Corner).

Kirkpatrick had also warned in her time that creating a palestinian state would be catastrophic (via IRIS Blog):
It would be a step backward in America’s fight against international terrorism…When we accept a terrorist state as legitimate, we strengthen terrorist groups," she said. Dr. Kirkpatrick said that while the Oslo accords were supposed to bring Israel peace and safety, "the situation is more dangerous for Israel now than it’s ever been." She emphasized that "The destruction of Israel and expulsion of the Jews has been the goal of the PLO since its beginning in 1964 and continues to this day."
This is another very important reminder why funding for the PLO must be cut off and they must be returned to the list of most dangerous terrorists.

A street named for a cop murderer: OBSCENE

It is simply disgusting that some French leftists want to appease Muslims in St. Denis by naming a street after Mumia abu Jamal, who murdered Philadelphia police officer Daniel Faulkner 25 years ago. This first happened in May. It wouldn't surprise me if even Jaques Chirac, a neo-Vichyite himself, approved of this latest effort to stain and demonize his country.

Fortunately, the House has now passed a resolution denouncing the act (via Michelle Malkin):
WASHINGTON -- The House passed a resolution Wednesday denouncing a French city for naming a street in honor of Mumia Abu-Jamal, who was sentenced to death for shooting a Philadelphia police officer 25 years ago this month.

"We must stand together as one and send a strong message to the world that cop-killers deserve to be punished, not to be celebrated," said Rep. Mike Fitzpatrick, a Philadelphia-area congressman who authored the resolution.

The vote came a few days shy of the 25th anniversary of the shooting of Daniel Faulkner, a 25-year-old officer shot after he pulled over Abu-Jamal's brother on Dec. 9, 1981. Abu-Jamal, a one-time radio reporter and former Black Panther, was convicted in 1982 and sentenced to death.

Abu-Jamal's writings and taped speeches on the justice system have made him a cause celebre among Hollywood activists, foreign politicians and some death-penalty opponents who believe he was the victim of a racist justice system.

In December 2001, a federal judge overturned Abu-Jamal's death sentence but upheld his conviction. Both sides have appealed that ruling, and Abu-Jamal remains on death row in western Pennsylvania. Last year, the 3rd U.S. Circuit of Appeals agreed to consider Abu-Jamal's appeal of his conviction.

In April, a street in St. Denis, a suburb in France just north of Paris, was named after Abu-Jamal.

The resolution asks the French government to step in to change the street name if St. Denis opted not to. The measure passed 368-31, with eight members voting present.

The vote was symbolic since the Senate is not expected to take up the measure before Congress adjourns this week.
That's a real shame that abu Jamal's death sentence was overturned. He deserves to go to hell for his crime.

Visit Justice for Daniel Faulkner for more on the case. Michael Smerconish has a preview of a book by Faulkner's widow, Maureen, about her hellish experience and fight to get justice for her murdered husband.

There are memorials being held this week (also via Michelle). And Hot Air also has a podcast about this.
